Originally my cooperating teacher and I worked towards meeting the goal of order of operations proficiency. She recognized that the students had gaps pertaining to their fact fluency. However, when we received our testing scores back, she decided to shift and focus more heavily on their fact fluency since it will ultimately help in other math concepts. The strategies were mostly the same but focused on different skills. She would still differentiate in small groups while changing up grouping strategies. She also would continue to use formative assessments. After using this for the past two weeks it is proving to be very beneficial. I look forward to continue working to reach this goal.
Reflect
This process was very rewarding and really allowed me to "get my feet wet" with this coaching model in place. I love having the forms readily available to keep me on track. Creating the Instructional Playbook allows me to be ready for future coaching opportunities, and I am very excited to add to it along the way. This cooperating teacher is one who likes to integrate technology so I am excited to have done this with her so we can follow these same principles with technology integration. I hope that my Identify questions are a little smoother next time when I feel more confident asking these types of questions and really diving into seeing the need, creating the plan, and adding valuable tools from the playbook.
