Little Raven Community
Weekly Update
Friday, November 17th
From the Principal
Happy Thanksgiving! We are incredibly grateful for our students, staff, and community! Little Raven is a special place and we are all proud to be Thunderbolts. We hope your week is full of love, laughter, friends, and family.
The footbridge off of Weaver is closed due to construction on S. Sterne Pkwy. Please be mindful of construction zones and walking through them. Thank you!
We know traffic is busy during drop off and dismissal on Cedar, Peakview and Datura. Please help ensure our students are getting to school safely by driving slowly and cautiously.
One of our goals at Little Raven is to ensure that 100% of our students feel safe, loved, and welcome at Little Raven. In order to help monitor our success around this goal, we are asking families or guardians to fill out this short survey.
In December we will be having two weeks of fun leading up for our winter break. Please click here to see our dress up days!

Inclusivity at Little Raven
Here are some great books that help teach inclusivity and cultural awareness! Thank you to one of our parents for sharing these resources.
Eyes that Kiss in the Corners and Eyes that Speak to the Stars
From the Counselor
Our school theme in November is Pay It Forward. We will focus on kind acts towards students, teachers/staff, and our school building. We'll work on noticing what others need and responding in a kind and helpful way.
On our BOLT tickets, we will look for students who Lead with kindness and Take other perspectives.
Look for fun Wellness Week days the week of November 13-17. As a school, we will focus on healthy choices for our body and mind.
Make sure to check the community flyers on the Little Raven website for holiday help information.

What's happening in STEAM
Dear Parents,
I hope this letter finds you and your family well. As the Little Raven STEAM
teacher, I wanted to take a moment to share with you the exciting things
happening in our program.
In November, grades 3-5 will be engaged in hands-on activities such as:
- Build geometric shapes and identify symmetry, perimeter and area
- Create art with 3D pens
- Design a track race for Ozobots
- Use snap circuits to learn the basics of electricity
- Design & build circuits that are powered by solar energy
- Build and measure with wheels & axles using KNEX Stem Simple Machines
Please visit the STEAM website to learn more about the curriculum, schedule, to
see photos from the SmartLab and the Makerspace, and keep up-to-date on
projects! We are also looking for donations to DonorsChoose for a new classroom
rug in the SmartLab and household items to use in the Makerspace (links below).
Thank you for your continued support! If you have any questions or would like to
learn more about our program, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
Warm Regards,
Sarah Bernauer
