Summer School Success Update
Signup Continues and Payments Now Being Accepted.
Thank you for a successful round of summer school registration! We are grateful and pleased to welcome your children to the District 30 Summer School program. Registration is still open, and we will continue to enroll more students in the coming weeks.
If your child is currently waitlisted for a course, we will do what we can to get as many students as possible into classes of their choice.
The payment option in RevTrack is now open for any families to settle any outstanding balance. Log into your RevTrack account (the same one you used for summer school registration), and click on “parent portal.” From there, select the “Shopping Cart” icon for each class, click “checkout” and add your payment information. This guide offers detailed instructions on how to complete that process.

Great work by all & make sure to watch until the end for an especially cool number.

On Thursday, our Board of Education approved Ms. Angela Jaeger as the new Maple School assistant principal for the 2023-24 school year.
She will begin her service on August 1 and joins District 30 with a wealth of experience, most recently from Bennett Day School in Chicago, serving grades 9-12 as an English Teacher and as the school's English Department Chair.

Memorial for District 30 Bus Driver
Our neighbors in District 28 are are organizing a Path of Kindness event to highlight the infinite love and kindness Mary Porcaro provided to the Northbrook community. Mary was a District 28 teacher for over a decade and served as a beloved bus driver to District 30 students in recent years:
Community members will be able to access the path from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 19 at Greenbriar School, 2195 Cherry Lane. The path will begin at the entrance to the school on Cherry Lane.
The path will take approximately 15 minutes to experience; there will also be some time for some quiet reflection before or after. The path will have opportunities to spread kindness honoring the spirit of giving Mary demonstrated. Please do not bring tokens of love (e.g, candles, pictures, flowers, posters, etc.) to this event.
Organizers also highly encourage those who are within walking distance of Greenbriar to please do so as parking is limited. The event will take place regardless of the weather, so please dress appropriately.
5Essentials Survey Runs Through March 31
Students and teachers across Illinois have an opportunity to participate in the 11th annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about your child’s school.
On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:
Effective Leaders
Collaborative Teachers
Involved Families
Supportive Environments
Ambitious Instruction
Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child. The parent response rate is 4% for the 2023 Illinois Parent Survey. As a reminder, schools need 20% of their parents to respond in order to receive a report.
The Illinois 5Essentials Survey for students and teachers will be conducted through March 31. The Parent Survey Supplement will be conducted during that same timeframe. To take the survey please click here or the button below and select the appropriate survey to begin.
For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, or to view previous years’ Reports, please click here. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact UChicago Impact Client Services at 1-866-440-1874 or impact-surveys@uchicago.edu.
Sincerely,
Scott R. Carlson, Ed.D.
