#Be Hopeful

On the heels of celebrating the legacy of Dr. King, we now look forward to inauguration ceremonies of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, the 46th administration of the United States, in hopes of bringing about some positive change in our country. That being said, this is a prime opportunity for us to continue teaching about having good character and ensuring through our daily efforts that all students receive the best education we can provide. It is my hope that you have planned some Social Studies time this week to discuss and complete activities related to the inauguration as well as Dr. King. I am including a couple of links that may help in support of this effort.

Livestream for kids

Remember that grades should be updated in TEAMS on a weekly basis. According to policy, there is to be a minimum of three grades per week.

#Be Engaging

By now you should have received communication from Ms. Coleman and Ms. Thompson regarding this month's Parks Parent Academy. This is a time designed to help foster stronger working relationships with parents while helping them learn about the systems and strategies used tp educate their child. Be sure you have communicated the proper grade level link to your parents and ensure you are prepared to deliver helpful information to parents during this session. This is a good time to review Istation, Education Galaxy, Amira, Reflex Math, etc. If your parents are good with the technology piece, what do they need? How can we support them.

4th and 5th graders honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with reader's theater. Click the video link below for a Walk with MLK.

#Be Vigilant: COVID Protocols are not Optional

Ensure that you are following COVID protocol at all times. Maintain social distancing inside the building this includes students and parents. We have been doing well and cannot afford to get comfortable and relax the standards. Upon entry your temp. should be taken before proceeding to the classroom. When utilizing shared space for planning, teachers should not be seated at the same table. Do not cross mingle students without prior approval from administration. Should you or someone in you household test positive, notify Mrs. Thornton immediately. Should a parent report the positive case of a student, direct them to complete the COVID-19 reporting form linked to the image below. Be sure to notify Nurse Tori as well. Thank you for all of your efforts to ensure we maintain a safe learning environment and help to mitigate the spread of the virus.

Building Children, Character, and Community Everyday

“A hundred years from now it will not matter, what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove; but the world would be different because I was important in the life of a child.”
