Message from the Principal
Dear Parents
“Children with autism are colourful-they are often beautiful,
and like the rainbow, they stand out.” – Adele Devine
What a very colourful few days we have had here at Whitford Catholic with our Rainbow themed Autism Awareness Week. I have seen wristbands, Batman keyrings and, best of all, a jar full of gobstoppers!! I look forward to seeing all the students wearing rainbow colours this Friday and supporting this great cause.
In the classrooms, teachers have been raising awareness of Autism through discussions and the sharing of information that will assist our students to recognise and understand how to be a good friend to someone with Autism.
A big thank you must go to Mrs Kylie Beveridge for organising this event and supporting the awareness and acceptance of Autism at our school. I would also like to thank our very own Cath Hughes who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to promote the 'Paint Me A Rainbow' campaign. This is a not for profit organisation and part monies raised will be donated to the school to purchase resources that will benefit our students. How lucky we are to be part of this diverse community that welcomes and accepts everyone.
Lightning Carnival
Congratulations to all Year 5 and 6 students involved in the recent Lightning Carnival. Not only did we manage some great results and have lots of students participating, but more importantly, our sportsmanship was on show for all to see. Thank you to all the teachers and parents who helped on the day. A very big thank you must go to Mr D’Adamo who managed to coordinate all the different sports that were played on the day.
Vincent's Project for the Homeless
WCPS is proud to support former student, Vincent Pettinicchio, as he continues his project for the homeless. Since 2013 the WCPS community has helped Vincent provide the homeless of Perth with 4,075 bags full of toiletries and comfort items. Last year, the packs made were donated to 23 charities and community groups. These diverse groups show how much need there is in our city and how the gesture of giving someone a bag essential items can make such a difference to someone in need.
This year Vincent has asked the WCPS community to collect bars of soap. There will be a basket in each year level to drop the bars of soap in. These baskets will then be collected on Thursday June 14. Vincent's target this year is 1,500-2,000 packs.
First Holy Communion Commitment Weekend (Year 4)
A reminder to parents of children receiving their First Holy Communion that this weekend is the Commitment Weekend. Children receiving the Sacrament will need to hand in their commitment card to any of this weekend’s Masses.
Finally, I take this opportunity to congratulate Miss Gabrielle Gelle on her recent engagement.
Enjoy the rest of the week!
Many blessings

Carpark Update
Our new carpark is looking close to being completed with an official launch expected in the next week or two. Once completed, directions on how to enter and exit the new 'kiss and ride' system will be communicated with parents. Once this is up and running, Albion Park will no longer be available for parking, however, you will be able to access the school carparks, Parish carpark and the courts for parking.
