Join Us for Round Two of Tamanend Family Trivia Night

Trivia is BACK! Tamanend Student Council and NJHS are very excited to host another evening of Virtual Trivia for the whole family! Make plans today to join in the fun on Tuesday, June 9! Congratulations go out to the Losey Family, the Sterner Family and the Neff family for taking the top three places during our first Trivia Night. Do you have what it takes to dethrone the winners? Just like before, each family makes a team in their home and we will be led through questions using Kahoot.

Here are the details:

  • All Tamanend families are invited to play.
  • Players should login starting at 6:45 and the game will begin at 7:00.
  • This event is FREE, but everyone must register in advance in order to receive the link to the game.
  • You need a team name and a team captain.
  • You will need TWO devices to play. We recommend a laptop to join Microsoft Teams and a smart phone/Ipad/laptop to play Kahoot! Kahoot! is a free app, available on the Apple App Store or GooglePlay.
  • Trivia questions will include a variety of topics, including some Tamanend questions and age-appropriate questions for young players.
  • Teams must register by NOON on Tuesday, June 9.
  • Registered teams will receive an email with a link to join the game the afternoon of June 9.

Grab & Go Free Lunch Program

During the district-wide closure associated with COVID-19, the Central Bucks School District has put the following procedures into place in order to provide lunch for all students. Your child does not have to participate in the free/reduced breakfast/lunch program to receive grab & go free lunches. Lunch is available for pickup between 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for Tamanend students at CB South High School (Mondays and Thursdays) and at Barclay Elementary School (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays).

Parent Portal Update

Please note: Parent Portal will close temporarily on June 8th so that final course grades can be calculated accurately. The portal will re-open on June 11th.



  • If you are planning to play a Fall sport at Tamanend, you will need a PIAA physical (pages 5 & 6) completed by your child’s doctor. That form can be found HERE and needs to be dated after June 1, 2020. It is recommended that parents/guardians make appointments very soon, and remember to take the PIAA paperwork with you.
  • Registration on Family ID for Fall sports will open on July 1st. That site can be accessed at https://hello.familyid.com/home.


  • Congratulations to all Spring student-athletes and coaches for a successful season. While these conditions were unprecedented, it was great to see so many student-athletes involved in trainings, challenges, trivia, team meetings, and many other activities. Many thanks to our coaches for all of the coordination and making this season as positive as possible!

Virtual Move-Up Day Roundtable Discussion for Current 9th Graders

Tamanend and Unami 9th Graders participated in a Move Up Day Roundtable Discussion with CB South students this week. CB South students tdid a great job providing answers to the questions about high school life that were submitted from both Unami and Tamanend students. Click here to watch a recording of the event.

Yearbook Online Ordering Extended Until Sunday, June 7

All yearbooks will be mailed home directly by the yearbook company. Yearbooks MUST be ordered online. This is a change from our regular practice—in typical years, we order extra yearbooks that we sell in the building at the end of the school year. We cannot do this this time. To order a yearbook, click here. If you need to check whether or not you ordered a yearbook, please email Mrs. Kristen Gerth at kgerth@cbsd.org. We want to make sure that every student who would like a yearbook, regardless of financial situation, gets a yearbook. If your child would like a yearbook and you are experiencing a financial difficulty at this time, please email one of the following staff members and we will make sure a yearbook is sent to your home: Brian Caughie, Kyle Dudley, Jeff Klein, Mandy Cammann, Lauren Myrtetus.

Featured Teacher--Mrs. Holloway

I had the pleasure of interviewing the wonderful Mrs. Holloway! Mrs. Holloway has been a teacher for 15 years. She first started as Tamanend’s Library Assistant but after four years she became the Librarian. Mrs. Holloway loves being a teacher because she gets to work with all the students in the building. One of the best feelings for Mrs. Holloway is when a student tells her they hate to read, and she recommends a book and they completely change their mind. A few of Mrs. Holloways hobbies outside of school are cooking, going to the beach, spending time with family and of course reading! Mrs. Holloways favorite vacations spots are Ocean City, Maryland, OBX, and Eleuthera! Mrs. Holloway has attended several colleges which include Montgomery Community College, Towson University of Maryland and completed her Masters at the University of Pittsburgh in Information and Library Science. If Mrs. Holloway could meet any author, she would choose Lauren Oliver, Laurie Halse Anderson and would love to meet Jason Reynolds again! A few of Mrs. Holloway’s favorite foods are watermelon, pizza, and veggies with dip. Mrs. Holloway’s favorite colors are Lime Green and Coral. Mrs. Holloway's favorite genre of music is Country and her favorite artists are Luke Bryan and Kenny Chesney. A few of Mrs. Holloway’s favorite shows are This is Us, A Million Little Things, and Grey's Anatomy. When Mrs. Holloway retires she sees herself at the beach surrounded by family and friends! That’s all for this month’s feature teacher!

Locker Items Retrieval and Hand-In of School Property

As you are aware, many students left personal belongings in their lockers prior to the closure of school. Our staff has been working hard preparing these items for distribution. In addition, many students are in possession of school property (books, calculators, etc.) that need to be returned to Tamanend. Our locker items retrieval & school property hand-in will take place on Thursday, June 11 and Friday, June 12 and will occur alphabetically by student last name. The process will be done curbside as we cannot allow students or parents in the building at this time. For the locker items retrieval, a staff member will bring items from your child’s locker and gym locker (items will be pre-bagged) to your car. For the school property hand-in, a staff member will come to your car to collect school property that your child needs to hand in. Examples of school property that should be handed in:

  • Textbooks
  • Library books
  • Classroom independent reading books
  • Sheet music (9th Graders only)
  • Script books, pit music, and school-owned costumes from the “Bye Bye Birdie” musical
  • Borrowed calculators
  • Sports uniforms

Please note: The following items should NOT be turned in as part of this event:

  • Laptops—current 7th and 8th Graders will keep their laptops unless they are not returning to Tamanend next school year. Current 9th Graders will turn in their laptops to the school district at 16 Welden Drive from June 12-June 16. Please click here to sign up for a date/time for 9th Grade laptop hand-in.

All employees will be wearing masks and gloves and will be stationed with plenty of space between them. We are asking that all students and parents remain in their cars and follow our directions to ensure the safety of all community members.

Drive- Thru Procedures

1. Prior to your arrival at Tamanend, please place any school property to be returned in a bag. In addition, please make sure your child’s name is on each item in the bag.

2. Prior to your arrival at Tamanend, please place a sign with your child(ren)’s last name near your front passenger windshield.

3. Please wear a mask.

4. Please enter the Tamanend Main Parking lot from the Kelly Road side of Stuckert Road. Make a right into the parking lot and you will be directed to follow the normal parent drop off line.

5. Please remain in your car.

6. A staff member will approach your car and ask if you have any school property to hand in.

7. You will proceed to the locker items retrieval point which will be outside of the Cafeteria Patio. A staff member will bring your child’s bagged items to your car. Please pop the trunk or lower your passenger side window so that our staff member can place your child’s bag(s) in your car.

8. Once you have your child(ren)’s belongings, please exit the parking lot.

9. If you have a question or concern, we ask that you pull into the designated assistance area so that we may keep the flow of traffic moving.

10. If your child believes he/she is missing additional items that were not included in the bag(s) we distributed to you, we ask that you fill out this form (which will be available starting the afternoon of June 11). We will do our best to locate the additional item(s) and will contact you so that you can retrieve it a later date.

Tamanend 8th Grader Receives Prestigous Internship with USC Shoah Foundation

Congratulations to 8th grader Satty Prabha! Satty applied to and was accepted as a junior intern in the Leadership Workshop-Action and Values Virtual Experience. Satty will take part in the program from June 22-26, 2020. Workshop participants will learn what it means to be a responsible participant in civil society, and they will develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to create positive change in their own lives and communities. The program is presented by USC Shoah Foundation's William P. Lauder Junior Intern Program. It provides students with a dynamic and unique opportunity to virtually engage with testimonies – personal stories – from survivors of and witnesses to genocide to develop a stronger sense of self and voice.

Reminder--Tamanend Virtual Talent Show is June 11

We are thrilled to announce Tamanend’s first ever virtual Talent Show! For those of you who have been tuning in to the fabulous Corona Cabarets, the format for our virtual Talent Show will be very similar. The Talent Show will air on Teams on Thursday evening, June 11th at 7:00 PM. We hope to see all of you there! We can’t wait to see the incredible talent our Tamanend students and teachers have to share!

Student Assistance Program (SAP)

Reminder--Help is Down the Hall

The Tamanend Student Assistance Program (SAP) Team is a group of trained faculty members who can connect students with appropriate help and resources if they show signs of struggling with mental health concerns or alcohol/substance use. If you notice concerns such as major changes in behavior or mood, drop in achievement, or use of drugs or alcohol, then you may consider a SAP referral. When the team receives a referral, we gather more information to determine if there is a need for intervention and further assessment. The information is confidential, and the process is for the purpose of offering help. Anyone can refer a student about whom they are concerned. Referrals can be made at this referral link or by contacting a SAP team member:

Central Bucks School District is closely monitoring the CDC’s recommendations as well as those from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Bucks County Health Department. You may review the latest recommendations from the CDC on their website at www.cdc.gov. At this time, the best advice is to practice the same common-sense preventative measures that are recommended every cold and flu season, including proper hand washing and staying home when sick.

9th Grade Laptop Return Dates--June 12, 15, 16

Dear Parents of 9th Grade Students:

We would like to thank you for your participation in our 1 to 1 program. The program positively impacted teaching and learning for students.

As your middle school experience ends, we are preparing to collect the student laptops. In August, we will issue all students in 10th grade a new Lenovo Yoga 11E Model. Emails about this roll-out will be sent in July.

In order to ensure a smooth collection process, please note the following:

What will the return process involve?

You will drive your vehicle to the Educational Services Center(ESC) at
16 Welden Dr, Doylestown, PA 18901. This will be a Drive-Thru drop off. Our staff will wear masks and we will use CDC Guidelines. Please use the map (Click Here) to navigate this event.

When is the collection date?

The 9th Grade collection dates are:

  • Friday, June 12th (9am-2pm)
  • Monday, June 15th (7:30am-11:30am)
  • Tuesday, June 16th (11am-5pm)

What does my child need to return?

All students must return their pen, charger, and laptop. Please complete and print the document (Click Here) and bring to the drive thru event. NOTE: If your child currently has a loaner, please return the loaner device to satisfy the return process.

Do I need to return the carrying case?

No. We are NOT collecting the carrying cases. All students will receive a new case for 10th grade.

What if my child is missing a pen or a charger?
Please go to MyPayments Plus to pay for items that you lost or damaged while in your possession. Once in MPP, If have you lost any device or accessories, please complete the payment in MyPayments Plus under the category of “CB Technology”. Pay for the items you are missing and then PRINT or SHOW YOUR RECEIPT at the collection. You may also bring a check made out to Central Bucks School District.
The fees are as follows:

  1. 9th Grade Laptop Charger - $30
  2. 9th Grade Laptop - $250
  3. 9th Grade Laptop Pen - $25

What will happen if my child does not return all of the equipment? Students that do not return all their equipment will be issued an invoice and may lose their Parent Portal access until all items are returned.

What will happen to the current devices? We will wipe the data and return them to the leasing company.

Students should save all files onto their OneDrive. Anything left on the PC will be wiped clean.

Distance Learning Technical Support

  • Logging in to Laptops: Students will use their FULL CB email address: (lastname.firstinitial###@student.cbsd.org) & password to log into the laptop. Your classroom teacher can help you with the log-in information. You can also email our support team.

  • Updating Devices: To allow your computer to be completely up to date after the handout, CBSD will be sending updates to the computers that could cause a random restart. Please make sure to have autosave turned on by creating new documents through Office 365 on the web so you do not lose work.

  • Device Having Issues: Restarting your computer will solve many computer issues. Please restart twice before reaching out for tech support. Click here to submit a Help Ticket.

  • Broken Hardware: We will attempt to have frequent drive through hardware support for our staff and students. In the event that device peripherals (pens, chargers, batteries, etc.) stop working or need replacement, families and staff do not need to purchase them through MyPaymentsPlus at this time. Reminder--Internet Essentials from Comcast is Now Free For Two Months For New Customers

Click here to find out more about low-cost internet from Comcast Essentials. In response to emergency measures associated with Coronavirus (COVID-19), Internet Essentials will increase speeds from 15/2 Mbps to 25/3 Mbps for all customers. This speed increase will happen automatically - no action is required by customers. In addition, new customers will receive two months of free service.

Volunteer Required Paperwork

Pennsylvania law requires all persons having direct contact with school children to obtain background checks and clearances. If you are planning on being in a Central Bucks school during the 2018-2019 school year for any reason, you will need to go to Volunteer Required Paperwork, and complete what is needed to obtain your Photo Volunteer ID Card. You will need that ID Card and a photo ID to enter a CB school.
