The Bluejay- November 2022
Bluejay Strong : Excellence In All We Do
Hello Clever Bluejays!
November and December are always a busy and stressful time of year for everyone. It can also be very exhausting for families and especially our students. Be sure to take care of yourself so you can be the best version of a parent for your kids.
- Stick to those bedtime routines or re-establish them if you've gotten off track. Sleep is ESSENTIAL for effective cognitive functioning
- Prioritize: What are you BIG ROCKS? What can wait until later: Habit 3: Put First Things First
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me or any other school resources if you have any questions or concerns.

Text Message Notifications- Are you signed up?
The school district would like to add text messaging to our list of communication methods. In order to do this, we would like all parents to verify their cell phone numbers in our student information system. Please log in to the parent portal for your child (children). If you have not already established a log in, information on how to do so can be found below.
Once logged in, you will see a section titled "Student Registration Information". This section hosts several forms which you may have already submitted along with one new form (if you have not submitted the other forms, please take a moment to do that as well). This new form is called Guardian Information Update Form, and filling this out will guarantee we have the correct number submitted in the correct place in order for you to receive text messages from the school. Click the right arrow next to the "Student Registration Info" heading. This will bring up a list of forms for your child. Click on Guardian Information Update Form. When you open the Guardian Information Update Form, you will see the information as it now appears in the system and have an opportunity to change/update anything that is incorrect or outdated. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CELL PHONE IS LISTED IN THE MOBILE PHONE FIELD ON THE FORM. After completing the form you will be able to "save and finish". When you are finished with the form, you will then check a box and submit the form.
Having accurate, updated information is crucial for the safety of all students. An accurate mobile number can be especially important in times of emergency. If you have any questions, please reach out to your building office.

Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI Days)
Some of our snow days are going to look a little different this year. Again this school year, a local education agency (LEA) will not be required to make up school hours that are lost or canceled due to exceptional or emergency circumstances (up to 36 hours). This allows our school district to implement alternative learning methods in place of up to 4 missed days of learning.
- Teachers distributed AMI packets at Parent/Teacher Conferences. If you did not receive your child's packet, please contact your teacher. Please place these in a safe place where they can be retrieved on AMI days.
- Packets have work labeled Day 1-Day 4.
- AMI packets will be used as a review of items previously covered during seated instruction.
- Teachers will be working remotely and will be checking their email and Seesaw throughout the day. Please reach out to your classroom teacher with any questions.
- Completing the assigned packets will result in the student being counted as present for the AMI day. Students not completing work will be counted as absent for the AMI day and the day will count against their attendance.
Mental Health Awareness
"Home" Work
Please make it a family goal to devote at least 15 minutes each day/night to literacy. I challenge you to put down the devices, pick up a book and engage in person to person reading and listening. I know the devices can do it for you, but there is SOOOO much more value in "old school" reading with your child.
