A Message from the Director
TVA Families,
We know there are a lot of questions surrounding how to manage pacing during spring break. Regardless of age, Edmentum does not have time off, so the system is set to continue to expect work to be done. How do you manage this? The answer depends on the student's age.
K-5 Students have an easier path. We are past the end of the third grading period. To be set to take a day off for spring break students should be around days 130-135 heading into that week. That gets them ahead of the curve, allows them to take a week off and get right back into it when they come back. This may mean that you do two days of work in each class each day this week to accomplish this.
6-12 Students have a slightly different game. Their semester courses are populated with on pace due dates from the minute they enter the class. Those that started on January 3rd have one date and those that started a week later, January 11th have other due dates. Our suggestion is to put time in next week (March 20-24) to get all the work for the Spring break week done meeting deadlines a week ahead. If you are unable to do that then the week you get back get caught up. As a reminder we are now suggesting that students beat the due dates by 2-3 days so that they show being on pace in all screens and reporting systems.
We will give a weeks reprieve after Spring Break for people to get back on pace without change in status. Our suggestion is that everyone be caught up by Friday, April 1st. Its up to your family to manage how to make that work then for the next three weeks.
These are all lessons learned from our time in TVA and working with this system.
Sincerely,
Mr. Kevin Zeck & the TVA Staff
Hope you remembered to move your clocks forward an hour this morning.
Each week we will showcase TVA Students of the Week. Students are chosen based on their online performance with staying on pace and making good academic progress. We are excited to celebrate our student successes and we hope this helps you also connect in some ways as well.
Victoria Hetrick - TVA Student of the Week
Victoria is a seventh grade student who has been with us since the beginning. She said, “ I chose TVA so that I could work at my own pace and be comfortable in my home.” Her favorite subject to study is Art. After high school she would like to design clothing or do something else in the field of art. In her free time she makes a lot of crafts and especially likes working with epoxy. She also enjoys spending time with her parents and all of her brothers and sisters. Victoria is a member of the class of 2028.
Seth Marshall - TVA Student of the Week
Seth is a sixth grader here at TVA. His mom thought that TVA was the best choice for him. His favorite subjects are Math and PE. He would like to play in the NFL or NBA and then go on to become a surgeon. Some of his favorite things to do outside of school are boxing, playing basketball, and football. Seth told us something people would be surprised to learn about him is, “ I can run really fast.” Seth is a member of the class of 2029.

This year, the Duneland Schools will share information that pertains to opportunities our students may be interested in outside of school on a special page on our website. These available opportunities are offered by not-for-profit partnerships and organizations within our school district boundaries and local communities. Click the link below to learn more.
Tech Alert
Several of our high school students have expressed concerns with alerts or being unable to log in to their school issued device. A new security feature was rolled out recently that depending on your device usage may cause some problems. Here is the solution:
- Make sure you're signed out of everything.
- When you sign back in make sure you are only using your Duneland logins. New security has been installed so that students are no longer allowed to use any personal logins.
- Open Microsoft Edge (that's it, you don't have to log in or anything).
- Leave your device on so that it can sync.
