Week of October 28, 2013

English Language Arts

Miss Warnke: We will be continuing to work on our personal narrative. We will review descriptive writing strategies to improve our writing. In Achieve3000 this week we will focus on asking questions to help us understand and connect more. Students should continue reading at home each night. 

Mrs. Allen: This week we will be working on Teenbiz3000 for citing evidence. We will also be working on our vocabulary skills using Moby Max. Students are writing a personal narrative about an event in their life. We will be working on our stories this week as well.

Ms. Naze: At the end of each month, TeenBiz is updated to show student progress. We will be looking at that next week Monday and recording progress in student planners. The goal is to get a 75% or better on their assignment. The activities done at school count toward their assessment levels, so we will complete our Teen Biz activities at school. They may continue to work on articles at home. Our goal is to finish one over break at 100%. We will be completing our narratives this week and working on Number the Stars discussions as well.

Math

Math 4: This week we’ll be working with multiplying and dividing fractions and review operations with decimals. We have a quiz on Tuesday for decimal operations, along with adding and subtracting fractions.

Math 7, 8: This week in math we will be starting unit three which focuses on using all operations with decimal and fractions. We will be starting with adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals this week.

Science

This is a busy week for science. All this week students will be working with their groups on an endangered species project. The project will be presented to the class next week. The Animal Kingdom book/project is due this Wednesday. Students have the directions and rubric for grading on their Schoology App on their iPad.
