A Separate Peace
By John Knowles
Summary of the Book
The story is mainly about when Gene Forrester returns to his old prep school, Devon. Gene graduated from Devon 15 years earlier and he returns to visit two places he regards as "fearful sites"; a flight of marble stairs, and the tree by the river that he caused his friend, Finny, to fall out of.
Main Characters
Gene Forester
Gene is both the narrator and the main protagonist in the book. Not a brilliant student, Gene is solid in the classroom. During the course of the book, Gene recounts his past experiences throughout his life.
Finny
Finny (Phineas) is an athletic kid who likes to run around and be active all the time. He created the game of BlitzBall, which expresses Finny's nature of being spontaneous.
Brinker Hadley
Brinker is a successful student who is a mix of both Gene and Finny. He is both a leader and a follower. He is usually dressed well, and he strives to impress people.
Two time Super-Bowl winning Quarterback Eli Manning says that 93% of people guarantee it'll be a great read!
Kevin Ware also enjoys this book because he made a connection with Finny because they both had a gruesome leg injury.
