Co-Presidents' Update
Thank you to Mrs. Hoffmann for presenting during the Mechanics of McKinley on Thursday. Her presentation was informative of the current goals and practices in the classroom. For those of you not able to make it, Mrs. Hoffmann's presentation also provided details on helping parents support their children with homework. She shared some valuable websites and applications which included:
engagenewyork.org
khanacademy.org
IXL math practice app
Simplex Spelling app
Story Path app (ages 6-8)
She also shared some updates on standardized testing and curriculum changes. We are very appreciative of the information Mrs. Hoffmann shared at the meeting.
WE NEED HELP!
We are three Milwaukee Play! decks away from our goal. If we sell under 49 playdecks the PTO will make $5.00 from every sale. If we sell 50 or more playdecks, the PTO will receive $7.50 from each sale. Right now we are at 47 playdecks. Please help us receive the additional $125 from the increase in profit. If you have not purchased your deck yet please do so in next 3 days! Learn more about the decks at www.playyourcity.org be sure to enter MCKINLEYPTO in the coupon line during checkout so McKinley earns their credit.
The PTO is looking for help researching and purchasing a 3D printer. We have the money, we have the teacher, now we need a savvy person to reach out to Longfellow and East to research which 3D printer would be best for McKinley. The time commitment is minimal but your effort would make a huge impact! If interested in learning more, please email tosamckinleypto@gmail.com
We are looking ahead and preparing for teacher appreciation week in April. We are in search of a couple creative people to help brainstorm ideas to honor the teachers. We are also in search of people to help implement the creative ideas. If you can lend a hand even for an hour or two please email us at tosamckinleypto@gmail.com
Last but not least, be sure that you have January 22nd on your calendar for family game night, it is going to be a fun time!
