Mr. Erickson's Writer's Workshop
January 16, 2013
The Write Stuff
- Students wrote wonderful personal narratives at the beginning of the year and published their work on Photopeach.com (click on the link to view).
- During the month of December, students completed a choice writing piece (click on link to view) and used one of many digital storytelling web sites to publish their work.
- Currently, students are learning how to write a persuasive essay. The essays will be published in a few weeks on Kidblog.org. The ELA standards for this type of writing genre also include the identification and use of linking words, prepositional phrases, and relative pronouns and adverbs. Your child will be bringing home a set of worksheets that are due on Wednesday, January 23 to practice these parts of speech. Students may log-in to the Writer's Workshop Moodle for additional help.
- I am looking for a volunteer to make initial and final proofreads of student work on Google Docs. You can do the work from home on your own schedule. All you need is a free Google Gmail account so students can share documents with you to proofread online. I would estimate an average of one hour per week (the work tends to ebb and flow). I am happy to train you on how to use Google Docs.
