Weekly Update for April 18th, 2022

School Wide Information

IPSF PATS Campaign- You may have recently seen Irvine Public Schools Foundation’s announcement of their 2022 Innovative Grants Program awards. Irvine Virtual Academy has been fortunate to receive IPSF grants in the past, and we look forward to the opportunity to apply again in the future. These grants have the power to bring amazing ideas to life and continue to keep our school and district on the leading edge of innovative teaching and learning! The Innovative Grants Program is made possible by IPSF thanks to the support of parents like you. Donations to the Parents Appreciating Teachers and Staff (PATS) campaign directly support teacher grants. PATS is an easy way to show our teachers, nurses, and staff how much we appreciate all that they do! For a small donation, IPSF provides the teachers and staff of your choice a certificate of appreciation, which includes a personal message from your family.

To support the PATS campaign and make a donation in honor of a teacher or staff member, please visit: https://ipsf.net/pats. Thank you for your support and appreciation of our school, our classrooms, and our teachers!

Virtual Mental Health Presentation- IUSD is hosting a Virtual Mental Health Presentation on April 27, 2022 from 6-7pm on How to Navigate COVID-19 Social Anxiety. During COVID-19, children and adolescents experienced a surprising shift in their social relationships. For some youth, adjustment to extended periods of isolation led to self-doubt and a decreased sense of belonging. This presentation will discuss the signs and symptoms of social isolation in children and adolescents. The impact of social isolation on interpersonal relationships and school avoidance will also be explored. Targeted audience: Pre-K to 12th grade parents.

Let’s Do Lunch

Does your student want to meet up with friends at lunch? Do they need help with an assignment or need to work on a group project? Or do they just want to meet new people? Let’s Do Lunch! We open a Zoom during lunchtime every Monday-Friday to allow students to meet up with friends and classmates at lunch. They can stay in the main room to chat or get help on an assignment. Or they can move to a Breakout room with friends or other students with common interests. We’d love for them to bring their lunch and stop in to check it out!
