Valley updates for the week 11/1-11/6
AcademicsIt will be a normal week schedule. Tuesday, November 2nd will be an Advisory day. IDs and masks are necessary to enter the building, and IDs to go through the lunch lines. Masks are to cover the mouth and nose. Speaking of masks, the building supply is running extremely low and we cannot assure we will be able to supply disposable masks. Please start bringing masks from home. After 8:20 AM, all doors lock and students and visitors will need to come through the North Main Entrance. It is against building policy to allow another student into the building through a door other than the North Main Entrance. For two of the past four years, Valley High School has ranked in the top five of high schools in the state of Iowa, and the #1 school in the metropolitan area. Dracula will take place Friday, November 5th and Saturday, November 6th at 7:00 PM in the Staplin Performing Arts Center. There is also a matinee on Sunday, November 7th at 2:00 PM. Congratulations to the band The Crust, made up of junior Steffan Poulson (VHS), seniors John Curry (VHS), Marshall White (VHS) and Jacob Martinez (Walnut Creek), and freshman Josh Snuffin (Walnut Creek) for winning the Iowa Rock Talent Contest 2021 at the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Valley's National Honor Society will be hosting their annual Blood Drive on Monday, November 1st from 8:45 AM-2:00 PM in the Performing Arts Center lobby. To donate blood, you must be 16 years old and weigh 120 pounds (16-17 year olds also need a parent consent form.) Valley High School will be hosting its annual Dodgeball tournament on November 22nd at 7 pm. All proceeds will benefit YES Shelters. Forms must be completed and turned in BEFORE November 17th. Prayer Club meets Friday morning at 7:20 AM in Mrs. Stanfel's room, 1607. Come for breakfast, fellowship and prayer. Join the Greenhouse Club in room 1329 the first and third Wednesdays of each month after school. Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) meets Thursdays 3:30-4:15 in room 3422. Join us for Anime Club every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 7:30 AM in Ms. Stanfel's Room 1607. |
