Cullman City Schools
The Week in Review - March 8, 2019
Escape Artists
These WES students were able to help Mickey the Leprechaun break out of the St. Patrick's Day Escape Room. Great thinking and problem solving took place throughout the process.
CMS Electives and Extracurriculars Provide Wonderful Opportunities
The recent CMS registration for 2019 - 2020 probably had a lot of students thinking about what electives they might take or what extracurriculars might be available. Electives and extracurriculars offer our students wonderful opportunities to enhance their middle school experience.

CMS student Brayden W. performs at WSCC during a recent recital.
In addition, the owner of the Steinway Piano Gallery in Nashville, Brandon Herrenbruck, visited the CMS Piano Lab to congratulate our students on their recent recital. Mr. Herrenbruck invited our students to perform in the Steinway Junior Piano Competition in Nashville this June. CMS has also received a letter from Dr. Kevin Chance, Vice President of the Music Teachers National Association, in recognition of the innovative piano lab program CMS has put in place.
Below, Agriscience students took advantage of a break in the rainy weather to do a little shrubbery trimming on the CMS campus. Also shown below are Agriscience students conducting testing with different drinks to see the impact on the growth of corn plants. These experiments are for a Agriscience Fair Project.
The CMS math team is always competitive. Shown below are the some of the 7th grade team at the recent Hoover Tournament. Both 7th and 8th grade math teams placed 3rd. Individual winners for 7th grade were Noley M. 5th, Peter B.10th and Anna S. 12th.
Making Math Fun
When you combine Dr. Seuss with Goldfish to complete your math assignment you definitely have an engaging activity! This student in Mrs. Byrd's class at CCPS managed not to eat all her manipulatives before the work was complete!
National Honor Society Induction
Congratulations to the new 2018-2019 NHS inductees at Cullman High School.
A Little Computer Science Fun
Coding is just one part of computer science, but this EES student in Mrs. Heptinstall's class has that part mastered!

CHS Prom 2019
CHS held its prom Saturday night at Stonebridge. Students had a great time with Southern Sound DJ Services providing the music.
Let's Debate
CMS students in Mr. Quattlebaum's class held Colonial time period debates. It wasn't all about being on opposing sides. They also shared some tea prepared in the traditional colonial manner.
Food Drive Success
Thank you WES families for your outstanding support of the SGA Canned Food Drive. We are so proud of these donations. Thanks, also, to Mrs. White and the SGA for your hard work.
Think Small
Small group instruction is a powerful tool. These teachers are just a few that were captured during small group instruction at EES. It is happening in every room, everyday.
Building Stamina
Being able to read for an extended period of time is so important for each of us. These CCPS Elephants are almost halfway to their 25 minute goal with 12 full minutes of reading!!! They should be proud!
McWane Center Fun
WES 3rd graders had a day full of adventure and learning when they visited the McWane Center.
Alligators Meet Goats
The Alligator class, along with other kindergarten classes at CCPS, had a great opportunity to interact with baby goats this week. They certainly were cute (the goats AND the students)!
Great Skill Building
Mrs. Hill's EES students are shown putting important events in sequence and preparing to present their timelines about Galileo Galilei!
Pre- AP History Comes Alive
CHS students in Mrs. Nix's Pre-AP History class were tasked with creating an informational presentation about reforms that occurred in the U.S. during the Progressive Era.
