School Reminders for Parents
* Student Homeroom Assignments for grade 1-6 are posted on the Pennington website under the Parent Tab as well as Summerfest. Classroom assignments for grades 7 & 8 will be posted on at Summefest. As in previous years, careful thought and consideration is given to each child's placements; therefore classroom assignments will remain as assigned.

Pennington's annual SummerFest is a great opportunity for students and parents to meet teachers and classmates, as well as re-connect!
BRING FOOD TO SHARE!
***We are asking each family to bring their own soft drink beverages and blankets/chairs. Remember to mark all serving utensils and dishes with your name. PLEASE NOTE THAT IN THE EVENT OF RAIN, SUMMERFEST WILL BE CANCELED.

* Just a reminder that gently used school uniforms and new PE uniforms will be available for purchase. Parents may also sign up for Parent Portal, the Volunteer System, and receive your parent pick up number.

First Week of School
First Day Packets - All students will have information coming home with them on the first day. Please review the information and due dates.
Students will report to designated areas at the front of the building and stand with their teacher for at least the first few days:
Grade 1: Patio Area
Grades 2 & 3: Under the breezeway
Grades 4 & 5: To the right of the flag pole
Grade 6: Under the breezeway
Grades 7 & 8: At the side of the building (Stonewall Road)
Mode of Transportation
As students in grades 1 & 2 arrive, their bus number or parent pick up number will be written on their hand in order to ensure that at dismissal they are safely placed on the correct bus or in the correct private transportation.
As students in grades 3-8 arrive, they will receive a slip of paper on which is written their bus number.
Parents are welcome to stay with their child until they enter the building. At that time they will be in a safe and caring environment.
The first week is committed to the students' understanding of expectations, introductions, getting to know their classmates, touring the building, scheduling, and setting up routines.
Drop Off/Pick Up
Pull forward all the way before allowing your child to exit the car. The drop off time is 8:40 a.m., please adhere to this time. The pick up time is 3:40 p.m.

Please check the county website for updated information about express bus stops.
Concussion Training
September 15, 2016 @ 5:30 p.m. This is only for initial students participating in middle school intramurals or cheerleading. If you've had concussion training before, you may take the training online and print off your certificate as proof of completing the course.

6th grade Information
Please be advised that all rising 6th grade students will need to get a tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) booster shot prior to the start of school, unless fewer than five years have passed since their last Tdap immunization.
All Prince William County Public School students must meet all Virginia immunization requirements.
Once your child turns 11 years old, they need to receive this immunization. Please send the documentation of this vaccine to the school nurse, Ms. Aurea Goodwin.
Club Sponsor Meeting
Monday, September 14th at 4:00 p.m. for all parents, assistant, and teachers who will be active in or sponsoring a club for this year.
August/September Community Service Activity
Donations of school supplies to the Hilda M. Barg Homeless Prevention Center in Woodbridge. Supplies will be collected starting at Summerfest, August 25th. Collection boxes will be available for quick "drop-offs." Donation ideas include Large Back Packs, 3-ring binders, dividers, calculators, composition books, highlighters, pocket folders, colored pencils, crayons, and markers, flash drives, dry erase markers, pump hand soap, boxes of tissues, paper towels, scissors, and zip lock bags.
