Hiring of Associate Principals
Six candidates were approved by the Board of Education; there still are two positions to be filled. The APs will be assigned to buildings after all candidates are hired. Of those approved at this meeting, five are current D34 staff members who are changing roles and one is new to District 34:
- Rebecca Brown, student services administrator at Westbrook/Glen Grove
- Alison Dauernheim, who comes to D34 from her role as assistant principal with NSSEO at Miner School in Arlington Heights
- Patrick Hoeft, PE teacher at Pleasant Ridge
- Karen Schwartzwald, student services administrator at Springman
- Margaret Wade, D34 student services administrator at Lyon/Pleasant Ridge
- Kimberly Williams, D34 student services administrator at Henking/Hoffman

Social Studies Resource Adoption
The committee recommended pilots of TCI/Social Studies Alive! in Trimester 1. Social Studies Alive! includes online and hard copy resources. The Trimester 2 pilot included:
- Trade (individual) books in K-2
- An extension of the TCI pilot for 3-5
- Discovery Education Techbook for 6-8
The committee recommended the adoption of the trade books for K-2, Social Studies Alive! (which is a combination of online and hard copy resources) for grades 3-5, and Discovery Education Techbook for 6-8. The Board will take action on the purchase of those social studies resources at the next meeting.
