The Holidays Are Quickly Approaching

As we approach the holiday season, it is important to reflect on how each of us will continue to protect all members of our school, parish, and local community.

The data we receive from our local health department verifies that, to date, there have not been any positive cases of COVID-19 transmitted from student-to-student in our school. This is excellent news and a testament to the safety measures taken to continue our commitment to in-person instruction.

The data also tells us that cases that have caused quarantines in school have generally been traced to family members and activities that increase the risk of transmission. We ask you to prayerfully consider how you will celebrate the holidays and activities your children will participate in when they are not in school. We all need to keep our teachers, staff, and fellow students healthy for our school to remain open for face-to-face instruction five days a week.

The teachers and I appreciate all you have done and will continue to do to support our work. The gratitude that we have experienced and the joy of everyone in our school each day is the greatest gift of all.

4th Grade Saints

Big picture
Students in Mrs. Walker's 4th grade class researched a saint that was important to them. They prepared a short biography of their life. After Mass, they did a presentation for their parents and then came into the classrooms so the students could hear and learn about the saints. Great job 4th grade!

Book It!

Grades K through 6 can participate in the “BOOK IT! Program” which encourages students to find the joy in reading. The mission of the program is to turn “have to read” into “want to read” and the only way to get better at reading is to take the time to do it.

Monthly goals are set for the student. Students can earn Reading Award Certificates and redeem the certificate at Pizza Hut for a free, one-topping Personal Pan Pizza.

Students who earn the certificates every month through March are also eligible for a chance to win one of 21 amazing prizes. Pizza Hut is awarding one grand prize winner a $10,000 college plan and a $5,000 grant for their school library. Plus, 20 runners up will win $1,000 in cash and prizes. To participate in the “BOOK IT! Program”, please see Mrs. Ambrose for more details.

Battle of the Books

Students in grades five through eight are encouraged to participate in the Battle of the Books competition. Unlike prior years, Holy Angels School will compete against St. Frances Cabrini. The competition will be held in May of 2021, but students can begin to read the books.

Parents are encouraged to challenge their students by asking questions about the books they are reading. A Classroom Page for the Holy Angels teams will be created for students to keep track of notes, ideas, and general thoughts so that team members can share ideas. After the Christmas break, teams will be meeting once a week to discuss ideas and prepare for the competition. Watch for more details regarding the book competition!

If you and your students would be willing to stand at an entrance after a Mass next weekend to collect money to be given to the Honor Guard, please let Mr. Breunig ( know how many people would be available and what Mass you would be willing to collect after.

Food Drive Success!

Holy Angels and St. Francis Cabrini held a friendly Food Drive competition October 26-30 to benefit Family Promise and the Food Pantry of West Bend. The winning school would have their Principal silly-stringed and the two classes – from each school – brining in the most items receives a lunch party (donated by a member of St. Francis Cabrini).

The race was close. St. Francis Cabrini collected 2,779 items and Holy Angels collected 2,759 items. The race was so close that it was decided that both principals would get silly-stringed. The winning classes at Holy Angels were K5 and 8th grade. Congratulations and thank you to all the families that helped make this a success.
