Principal's Message from Mrs. Sierra
Hello Champion families! We are halfway through the 1st six weeks of the school year and our Champions are getting into the swing of things here at school. Thank you for supporting us through the first month of school. Now, that we are settling into the routine of things we are busy planning some engaging learning opportunities with your involvement. Our staff is working hard to ensure our students are successful this school year while we stay connected with our Champion families. Please reach out to us if we can provide any further support to you.
With respect,
Mrs. Sierra

September Theme: Empathy
What is Empathy?
Empathy is the ability to be aware of, understand, and be sensitive to another person’s feelings. Instead of focusing how these feelings impact ourselves, empathy motivates us to focus on others and respond with care and compassion.
Why Focus on Empathy?
- Empathy builds positive classroom culture. Empathy empowers students to learn to understand each other to build trust and safety in the classroom.
- Empathy strengthens community. Empathy helps students strengthen their relationships with classmates, other students and adults at school, and at home.
- Empathy prepares your students to be leaders in their community. The best leaders understand the people they lead and are able to show they care.

Calk-Wilson Elementary Dismissal Procedures
Please do not wait outside any student pick-up areas by our glass doors. These areas are reserved for staff and students. We are working hard to ensure our students exit our building safely. You are still required to hold your child's car tag/dashboard sign when you walk up to pick up your child. This will make it easier for staff to punch numbers into our dismissal board.
