Wickedly Good
By Emma D.
Born on July 24, 1968, Kristin Dawn Chenoweth has been performing since she was little. Her parents, Jerry and Junie, adopted Kristin. She then was a younger sister to Mark Chenoweth.
To fund her education, Kristin went to the pageants and won runner-up in Miss Oklahoma in 1991. After getting her Bachelor of Fine Arts (in theater and music), she flew to New York to support her friend for an audition. Kristin became interested and auditioned herself, landing a supporting role. With her glass-rattling soprano voice, the highest voice a girl can have for singing, she auditioned more.
Finally, her big break came in the form of something green. The production of Wicked. Her role was Glinda, the good witch. Her co-star Idina Menzel, Elsa from Frozen, played Elphaba, the evil witch.
The two continued on Wicked, both getting nominated for the same Emmy. Unfortunately, Kristin lost the Emmy to Idina. But she's not too torn up about it, as the two still hang out together.
Currently, Kristin is going back to Broadway after being gone for almost 8 years! The plays that she is in are On the Twentieth Century and I am Harvey Milk.
At 46 years old, Kristin has inspired children as well as adults. She truly is beautiful inside and out.
"Laughter is life-giving. It makes you breathe." - Kristin Chenoweth
