Plato Enlightment Thinker
- Plato was born into a wealthy family in Athens, Greece.
- Plato wanted to be a politician, but later changed his mind when his friend was killed.
- In 387 B.C he founded the Academy in Athens.
- He wrote a book that expressed his ideal form of government.
Plato's Beliefs
- Plato believed that every person has a strength and a weakness, and believes that everybody should understand his or her role in society.
- Plato also believes nothing other than talent should determine that person's role.
- Plato believed:
- those skilled with their hands should be laborers or artisans
- those who are wise should be leaders.
Plato's Ideal Form of Government
Plato's Ideal form of government is a government constructed to bring out the best behavior of its citizens. He also thought by assigning people to a proper role, they will lead a good life and serve to society as a whole.
