West Oxford Owl
February 3, 2023
Congratulations to our employees of the year: Ms. Abbott- teacher assistant of the year, Ms. Nunnamaker- Beginning Teacher of the Year, Ms. Cantu- Rookie of the Year, Ms. Clark- Support Staff of the Year, Ms. Albright- Clerical Staff of the Year, and Mr. Hart- Bus Driver and Operational Staff of the Year! Former Superintendent, Dr. Dorwin Howard came and spoke to our second grade students for Black History Month. He and his wife generously donated three books to our media center!
We are very excited to share that West Oxford has been designated a magnet school for our global and dual language programming. Applications are open for the 2023-24 school year. Kindergarten registration and PreK applications are available online here and in our office.
We are in the middle of the Read A Thon, an initiative from our PTO to read books and raise money for our school. Students can win all kinds of prizes! If we raise $3,000, students can duct tape Ms. Bonnemere to the wall, and if we reach $4,000, we can also duct tape Ms. Walton!
Please mark your calendars:
- Progress reports go home on February 8th.
- We will have breakfast for dinner and a selfie museum on February 8th.
- Superb Owl Day is February 10th. Join us for our growth parade at 9:00!
- All Pro Dad's breakfast is February 14th at 8:30.
- February 17th is a teacher workday.
- February 20th is a remote learning day.
On Wednesday February 8th we will be celebrating the 100th day of school. We would like for our students to either dress like a 100 yr old or be creative and design their own tshirts. We can't wait to see their creativity.
We are looking for volunteers for Read Across America Day on March 2nd. Please let the office know if you want to be a guest reader!
Remember to be reading 22 minutes every night!!!
