This week is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!!
We've traveled the world and we know it's true, there are not other teachers and staff quite like our Silver Springs Team! We are looking forward to spoiling them next week! Please see the attached information for ways that you can help to celebrate your child's teacher as well as the other staff at Silver Springs!
Monday - Wear your teacher’s favorite color and/or bring their favorite treat. Click here to access the Teacher’s Favorites List
Tuesday - A handwritten note from parents to teachers to express their appreciation.
Wednesday - Please send in a teacher requested school supply to use in the classroom. Requested supplies will be added to the Teacher’s Favorites List soon.
Thursday - A handwritten note or handmade art work from your child to their teacher.
Friday - Use the provided “luggage tag” and write one word or favorite characteristic that describes your teacher. (Luggage Tags will come home in Monday envelopes. These will be displayed on the classroom doors as a daily reminder of our appreciation.)

The Lorax Project is Coming! We are in need of Parent Volunteers!
The annual Lorax Project is scheduled to start in a couple of weeks. It will be the week of May 9-13th. For those who are new, The Lorax Project was started years ago by a Silver Springs teacher who wanted to beautify the grounds around our school. It has since become an annual tradition. Every spring the kids take pride in working together to clean up around the school. It's a great example of the power of Habit 6: Synergize!
In the next week, every grade will be assigned an area around the school and each teacher will schedule one hour during the Lorax week to work in that area.
Here is where we need your help. We are looking for a couple of parents to work with us to ensure everything gets done. Preferably we are looking for people that can assist throughout the whole week. Starting on Sunday, May 8th, we need people to assist Ms. Meisel in cutting down the tall grasses for the kids to pick up. Then we would like people who share our enthusiasm for gardening to provide direction and focus for the kids as they work (ex: weeds vs. flowers, best places to put mulch). If we have a couple of people volunteer, we could divide up the days.
If you are interested in helping, please contact Ms. Meisel at meiselki@northvilleschools.org.

Habit #7: Sharpen the Saw
What this means: Balance feels best. In order to maintain and increase effectiveness, we must renew ourselves in body, mind, heart and soul.
“I take care of my body by eating right, exercising, and getting sleep.”
“I find meaningful ways to help others.”
“I spend time with family and friends.”
“I learn in lots of ways and places, not just at school.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Go for a walk.
2. Read a book.
3. Volunteer in your community.
4. Value the difference in others.
