Student Virtual Experience Quick-Survey

On Friday, our school sent our students a quick, 4-question survey about their virtual experience. Teachers and staff will be reviewing this data to adapt and adjust their planning to serve our students.

Thank you for the anonymous students who completed this survey! And, thank you to all of our students and families for working hard at home! Go Tigers!

Limited In-person Instruction: Two Hours

By invitation only, EMS is bringing small groups of students into school for limited, in-person instruction. Students must wear a mask for the entirety of this experience as well as sanitize-into and out-of their classrooms.

In-person instruction is from 10:00am to 12:00noon. Students attend on Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday given their cohort (as can be seen in PowerSchool).

Students who attend in-person will follow their schedule as if they were attending at home, virtually. And, students continue to be expected to return to learning when at home.

Below are the published numbers of students who are present in their 4th and 5th period classes on either "Cohort A" (Mon and Tue) and "Cohort B" (Wed and Thur):

October 5 through October 8: A - 12 / B - 21

October 12 through October 15: A - 35 / B - 34

Clarity Around How We Track Attendance

Excused Absences

Please continue to inform us of any excused absence if your student is unable to be present at school for a school day.

Your student will continue to be required to submit any work that was missed. Your student's absence from school does not excuse them from submitting their work at a later date.

We are flexible and are here to support you as well as ensure your student is providing us evidence with their progress in meeting essential learning standards.

Unexcused Absences

As we progress more and more into our school days, your student's attendance will begin to matter more and more. Let us support you and work with you to help your student attend class. To be marked present, your student must do both of the following:

1.Participate meaningfully in class activities (Fully complete school work, speak up in Zoom classes, ask questions to Teachers in Zoom classes and/or in Canvas, finish and submit responses to assignments and/or surveys)

2.Communicate with their teacher or another staff member for each period they attend (speak up in a Zoom class, respond to their Teacher's prompts, send a private message via Canvas or email about the task or assignment if the student is not participating live).

If your student has difficulty accessing videos, Zoom meetings, or assignments, please have them email their teacher as soon as possible to receive suggestions for how to resolve the issue, and to be sure they are marked present for that class.
