South Bay District News for the Week of Sept. 5th

No School - Monday 9/5 in honor of Labor Day!

Pine Hill Book Fair

Pine Hill will be hosting its first Book Fair from September 12-16. The fair will be in the library and will be open after school. Parents may park and come onto campus with their children. This is a perfect opportunity to purchase some great reading material for your child and support the library as well. Books can also be purchased online from September 12-25 by visiting THIS LINK. Thanks for encouraging literacy with your children and supporting our school in the process!

Library Check Out

This year, if you do not want your student to have the ability to check books out of the library you will need to "opt out" of library privileges. Of course, we want all students to check out books and read for enjoyment, so this is why we have moved to an opt-out option. Families are still responsible for lost or damaged books, just like our curriculum textbooks. Please call the office with any questions.

Updated Covid Guidance

SBUSD will continue to follow guidance from HCOE and Humboldt County Public Health pertaining to isolation and quarantine. The guidance was just updated on 8/25. CLICK HERE to view the most recent flowchart that we will use for positive cases and exposure.

Important Upcoming Dates:

Mon. 9/5- LABOR DAY HOLIDAY, No School

September Menus

Click HERE for the breakfast and lunch menus at Pine Hill and South Bay through September 16.

Menus will be covered in two-week sections, due to supply chain issues. The kitchen wants to ensure that we are able to provide the meals that are on our menu, so planning for shorter time periods is necessary. Both South Bay and Pine Hill do not provide microwaves for students to use in the cafeteria, so please pack ready-to-eat meals.

**Remember school breakfast & lunch is free for ALL students, regardless of home income. **

Bus Schedule & Information

Here is the Bus Schedule for pick-up and drop-off locations and times.

Students who rode the bus last year can get on the bus the first week of school while we wait for the new bus request forms to come in. Bus forms can be found in the first-day packet and ONLINE HERE. Ms. Shannon will communicate with parents once the forms come in to confirm students have been given a seat on the bus for the school year.

Parent Teacher Student Association

New leadership for the district's Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is wanted for the 22-23 school year. If you are interested in taking a leadership role or just want some information about this important district team, please reach out to Heather Becksted at South Bay or Tim Grimmett at Pine Hill.
