CIS Weekly Update

August 23-27

I can't believe we are already entering week #2! Our first three days went very well as we all got acclimated to being back in the building. There is a lot of routine practice happening at this time of the year and it will enable our students to feel comfortable with navigating their day throughout the school year. We urge you to reach out if you have any questions that we can help you with along the journey of 5th/6th grade!

Soon we will introduce our Chromebook challenge to students. The goal of this friendly competition is to help boost our students' confidence with being able to come home each night and charge their Chromebook properly.

Lastly, I encourage our families to sign up for Remind so I can message you throughout the school year. Please see the links below to sign up for the appropriate group. Class of 2028 is for our 6th graders and Class of 2029 is for our 5th graders.

Have a GREAT week!

Brandon Cobb, Principal

Our PTO has been extremely busy helping students with lockers, bus dismissal and raising funds for books and technology! On top of all of that, they have stocked our refrigerator in the staff lounge and provided a delicious breakfast for staff this past Friday! We are thankful and appreciative. If you are looking to get involved then please plan to attend our next our next PTO meeting. Our partnership is important for creating a positive learning environment for OUR students.

Thanks to five local insurance agents (Kristy Beal, Kelly Young Graham, Zach Berger, Roy Hogan & Zig Novak) CIS was able to purchase new books for our 5th grade classroom libraries! We are so grateful to live in a community where even competitors can all come together for the good of the kids/teachers/schools in this community.

Please take a look at the attached documents. These documents will be used to guide our decision making at CIS regarding COVID-19 and illness. It is important that you keep your child home from school if he/she isn't feeling well. Our families did a great job last year, so we are hopeful we can continue that this year. If you have any questions then please reach out to us.

Please remember that if your child is going to miss school because of a vacation, then you will need PRIOR approval from Mr. Cobb. Please email him in advance and request that the absence be listed as "excused". For more information regarding attendance please check out the Student Absence Brochure.

Students (and staff) are encouraged to wear motivational shirts on Mondays and Red/White (Grizzly or CIS) gear on Fridays. This will be encouraged throughout the school year along with additional spirit days throughout the school year.

Students are permitted to bring their cell phones to school. However, they need to put them away when they enter the building and store them in their lockers during the day. Once they exit the building, at the end of the day, then they are permitted to use them. During the school day our students shouldn't use their cell phones to contact home if they aren't feeling well. Students are encouraged to go to the clinic if they aren't feeling well. This helps us keep track of students and prevents the office from being surprised when a parent/guardian shows up unexpectedly.

Our attendance clerk, Kelsey Lanham, is the contact person for calling off your student and any change of dismissal plans throughout the day. Her email address is and the phone number to her desk is 330-335-1481. We recommend you let the attendance desk/teacher know when your student is going to be absent, leaving early or arriving late. Letting us know when your child is going to leave early allows us to be prepared for when you arrive. Thank you for your efforts!
