Exciting News!
Hello Raider Nation --
I hope you had a fantastic St. Patrick’s Day.
Please pardon the tardiness of this week’s newsletter. I am currently in Washington, D.C. at the National Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals (NAESP and NASSP) Advocacy Conference. My role in this organization on the Board of Directors has been integral in advocating for and supporting educational issues important to both administrators and teachers. My tenure on this Board has led to me to believe that there is much work to be done in advocating for the needs of all stakeholders (students, teachers, and administrators). As such, it is with the support of Dr. Martirano and his leadership team at Central Office, that I am officially announcing my intent to run for President of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP)! I am so honored to be in the position to be able to lead this national organization. However, my ability to do so cannot and should not occur without the support and backing of my Atholton family. If elected, my tenure would begin July, 2020 and conclude June 30, 2021. During this time, I will be required to attend events throughout the country. Dr. Martirano has expressed his support and is confident in our administrative team to manage our school when I am required to be out of the building. I will have a further discussion with ITL’s this week so any feedback you have, please share with them. I am really excited about this opportunity for our school and district. I will keep you all posted as this process unfolds. Results will be announced this summer.
Lastly, another friendly reminder about Strutting with the Staff! Bright Minds Foundation is hosting another wonderful fundraising event to raise money that goes directly back into the schools. Our very own Raider Nation staff will begin rehearsals this week and will be bringing you back to the 80s with their fancy footwork and out of this world costumes. Although I am not a dancer, I will do my best to represent Atholton well. It should definitely be worth the price of admission to witness this effort. Lol! Come on out to support!
See you tomorrow!
Robert
