Hansen Holiday Shoppe!
This year, in addition to student shopping, we have connected with an organization called WonderFund MA (https://www.wonderfundma.org/), a local nonprofit that assists and coordinates with Mass DCF to provide resources for children in the foster care system or otherwise receiving their services. They would love donations of new, winter hats, gloves and scarves for children being supported by the Brockton area office. We will have a donation bin available throughout the month in our lobby, and any donations are appreciated!
Finally, please see the message below with information on how to volunteer for this event. Thank you for your support of this event on behalf of the Hansen students!...

Hour of Code
Dear Parents,
We live in a world surrounded by technology. We also know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works.
But only a tiny fraction of our students are learning how technology works. Only 45% of all high schools teach computer science. That’s why our entire school is again joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week (December 9-15). Starting next week, Kindergarteners through fifth graders will spend at least an hour of their time in Computer Lab exploring basic computer science concepts and flexing their technology muscle, their brain!
The Hour of Code™ is a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week [csedweek.org] and Code.org [code.org] to introduce millions of students to computer science and computer programming for one hour during their week. "The Hour of Code is designed to demystify code and show that computer science is not rocket science—anybody can learn the basics," said Hadi Partovi, founder and CEO of Code.org. "Over 100 million students worldwide have tried an Hour of Code. The demand for relevant 21st-century computer science education crosses all borders and knows no boundaries."
Our Hour of Code is making a statement that the Hansen School is ready to teach these foundational 21st-century skills.
See https://hourofcode.com/files/hoc-one-pager.pdf for details, and help spread the word.
Sincerely,
Justin Martin, Instructional Technology Teacher
