Principal's Corner

I would like to welcome all of our students and teachers back from a well deserved break! 2019 was a fantastic in the life of our school and 2020 is sure not to disappoint.December was such a busy month with all of our chorus, band and orchestra concerts. In addition to these concerts, Our 2nd grade classes made gingerbread houses and the first graders did their annual holiday performance. Our students did an amazing job and I am truly humbled by their talent. The success of these events would not have been possible without the support of our families and the community. It is amazing to me that during the month of December, we had over 1,000 visitors at our school who came to support our students!

As we begin 2020, our students will get settled in and we will begin Dibels testing during the week of January 6th. This is a benchmark assessment that we use to check in on students' reading progress. This data in conjunction with other progress measures will be used to help us determine appropriate reading intervention groups for our students.

As the cold weather sets in, please make sure that your child has appropriate clothing for the weather. Our students play outside for recess daily and will do so unless there is an advisory or weather event that would prevent them from going outside. I also want to remind you that with inclement weather comes the potential for snow days. Please be sure that you have made appropriate child care accommodations for school delays, cancellations, and early dismissals. It is important to note that we do not allow students to take a different bus home on early dismissal days.

In closing, I want to thank you all for your continued support of our students, school, and programs. Please follow us on social media to stay abreast of things happening daily in our schools.

Sincerely,

Mark D. Brown,

Principal
