In a curious turn of events, the evening’s farcical venture into then unseen brings back the ghost of his temperamental first wife, Elvira. Charles’s second wife, Ruth - who cannot see or hear the ghost - is less than thrilled by the supernatural circumstances.
- First premiering in 1941 London, and subsequently performed on Broadway, the show was soon to be a classic. Coward adapted the play for film in 1945, starring Rex Harrison and it has enjoyed several other adaptations and revivals since. It’s most recent run on Broadway was in 2009.
