Why Dairy Food is Important!

Osteoporosis is a very serious bone disease that causes your bones to lose minerals, become weaker, fragile, and break easily. Osteoporosis can affect anyone at any point in their lives. Osteoporosis can be prevented in most cases. Three ways that you can prevent osteoporosis are:
- Get your daily recommendations of calcium and vitamin D
- Engage in regular weight-bearing exercises
- Avoid smoking and excessive amounts of alcohol
Why Dairy is Important
Dairy is an important part of being healthy because it helps you get vitamin D and the main mineral you get from dairy is calcium. Calcium is important because it helps your muscles grow strong. Also calcium and vitamin D help you keep strong bones throughout your entire life.
Healthy Food Choices
Five healthy foods you can eat to help get your recommended amounts of vitamin D and calcium are:
- Broccoli
- Orange Juice
- Milk
- Yogurt
- Cheese

Smoothies
When used with milk, yogurt, or even ice cream smoothies can be a good source of dairy and fruits or vegetables.
Cheese
Cheese is a good and easy way to get some of your recommended dairy. Just make sure you're not eating too much.

When it comes down to it milk is always the best source of dairy. Milk is a very simple way to get your daily dairy in. Also it comes in any flavor you would like.
