All Star Reading Club February
The All Star Reading Club is West TV’s voluntary incentive program to encourage students to read. Students read a book from the genre of the month and complete a short summary and submit it to the All Star Reading Club basket located in the library.
February’s genre is Biographies or Autobiographies! Print the correct report sheet below or pick up a preprinted copy in the library.
Remember, you can still complete January’s report all the way till the end of February!
Missed a month? Complete a makeup report available in the library (the genre is Classics). Reminder: you can only complete one makeup a year.
Continent Club
Welcome to Continent Club! WTV's geography enrichment program for grades 1 - 5. Students/Parents/Guardians download the study materials and have fun together exploring the world through geography. All WTV students are quizzed at school on six Continent Check days during the year.
Continent club is optional, but is a great way to bridge the geography knowledge gap. Short on time? Start with just the continents and the first four countries! It's a wonderful way to build a foundation for global literacy and inspire curiosity about the world, initiating the first steps to your student becoming a global citizen.
This month's Africa Check Day is February 29th. Volunteers are needed for Check Day. For more specific information on the program click here.
Download these study materials and study at home:
Family Art Night
Family Art Night will be held February 28, from 6-7:30 in the gym. Come enjoy 5 different fun art-making experiences inspired by diverse contemporary artists of New York City’s “Making Their Mark” exhibition!
Oregon Battle of the Books
Let the OBOB Battles begin!
We have 12 teams this year competing to represent West TV in the OBOB Regional Tournament.
The kids work hard to read and learn the OBOB books inside and out. We invite parents, students, and family to come watch the battles.
What: OBOB Official Battles
When: Every Tuesday and Thursday beginning, Thurs. January 18th through Tuesday, February 27th.
Start Times: 11:10am, 11:30am, 11:50am (see schedule for your Team’s time)
Where: West TV in the Intervention Room/Mr. Blanc’s room, A100. The first classroom on the left as you enter the school.
We will be hosting an OBOB end-of-year party for all OBOB participants and their coaches. It will be held on March 7th from 1:30-2:15 in the library. We will provide snacks, take team pictures, and celebrate all the hard work everyone has put in this year.
Innovation Fair
Entry forms for a revamped Innovation Fair will be sent out this week. The entry forms are due by February 23rd. The Innovation Fair will take place on March 14th from 6-7:30pm in the school gymnasium. The format will resemble a traditional science fair aimed at participation rather than competition. This will be an opportunity for your child to practice their scientific approach and presentation skills. Tri-fold poster boards will be provided by the PTC. Please email questions to innovationfair@wtvptc.org
Winter Afterschool Enrichments
We have some great after school enrichment opportunities coming up. We have Coding, Yoga, and Golf. Feel free to take a look and see if anything speaks to you or your family!

District Reminder Regarding Overdue/Lost Books
Hello West TV families:
Each year the district sends out 3 reminder emails about overdue/lost books. This is just a reminder about books needing to be returned, NOT a statement that they need to be paid for at this time. We encourage students and families to take some time to look for those overdue/books and work together to get them returned in a timely manner. Attached is a link to the district's online payment system so if it does come to that point, this is the easiest and most efficient way to pay for any lost or damaged books.
Here are two links for the Online Payment System:
- Instructions - Overall instructions on what to do, straight from the BSD website
- Payment Site - Direct link to start set up/payment
Request from the Social Media Team
Hey West TV family!!! The Social Media team would love to feature pictures that you have taken from school events. We have a link that you can add your photos to and save them in the specific event folder.
Anyone with a Gmail address can drop photos into the event's folder. Folders for each event were created so when anyone drops photos onto the social media site you will be able to place them in the specific event folder - such as the All Star Dash (folders are dated to help manage order).
Here is the link to the main folder:
