Principal's Report

Kia Ora e te Whānau and welcome to the second week of the term.

Parent-teacher partnerships are crucial for student success. When parents and teachers collaborate, they can identify and address a student's strengths and weaknesses, set goals and create a supportive learning environment. Such partnerships also promote communication and understanding, which fosters trust and helps ensure that each child reaches their full potential. By working together, parents and teachers can create a positive impact on a student's academic and personal growth.

In the coming weeks we will have a number of opportunities for home and school to work together to ensure the best outcomes for our learners. On Thursday next week we will be hopefully holding our school athletics. It would be wonderful to see our parents come along to support their children and encourage all our students. More information about athletics day will come out next week.

On Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd Feb, we will be holding our first round of parent- teacher- student interviews. This is an opportunity for parents to meet their child's teacher to start, or continue a strong relationship that will help your child to have a wonderful year. We are really looking forward to seeing all our parents sometime over the two days.

Have a great weekend,

Kā mihi nui,

Vicki

Parking outside Balclutha School

A reminder that our bus stop has now been moved to the Glasgow Street side of the school. This leaves a lot more room on Lanark Street for picking up and dropping of pupils and seems to be relieving some of the congestion before and after school.

With the new bus stop being on Glasgow Street, we also ask that cars not park on the bus stop before or straight after school. The Council have installed the signs showing what times you can and cannot park there.

We still have our two parking spaces on Lanark Street outside our front gate for cars to park that have occupants with disabilities. Please keep clear of these two parks unless you qualify to park there.

Room 12

The students in Room 12 have been creating self portraits using the abstract artist Sandra Silberzweig as inspiration. The influence from her work has resulted in some bright, bold and colourful pieces of work to decorate the classroom. Pictured here are Ella, Jessica-Rose and Ollie working hard on their creations.

Room 11

Room 11 students have created ‘selfies’, showing them in front of the place where they would love to be.
