The cayenne pepper, also known as the Guinea spice is used in mainly spicy dishes. However there are some cake and chocolate recipes where it is added for a different flavor.
Botanical Information
Cayenne is a spice also commonly known as Capsicum Annuum, and we use both fresh and the dried, ground version of it when cooking.
