Marin School Library

Strong school libraries = strong students!

Welcome!

Welcome to the first issue of the MSL Newsletter. This edition is for staff members. I hope to keep you informed on what is happening in the library, special events we may be celebrating, new titles added to our collection, and my library curriculum. I am looking forward to another year of sharing outstanding literature with you and your students as well as helping our students navigate the world of information that is available at their fingertips. One of the most important goals of the school library is to help students develop a love of reading. Reading lays the foundation for academic success, inspires imagination and encourages lifelong learning.

Well, there is an app for everything and that includes websites and apps that support mindfulness in the classroom. The following links are from the CommonSense Media Graphite site which evaluates and rates websites and apps. Graphite is a fantastic resource for teachers. I encourage you to check it out.

Mindfulness apps and websites include:

Go Noodle, a free website that helps kids with transitions between activities or just slowing or calming down. Look for "Air Time" and "Flow" and the teaching guide to help you.

Stop, Breathe, Think a great one-to-one app for integrating mindfulness into the classroom.

Calm a quick visual/audio app for any age, whole class or individual student.
