Strong school libraries = strong students!
Welcome!
Welcome to the first issue of the MSL Newsletter. This edition is for staff members. I hope to keep you informed on what is happening in the library, special events we may be celebrating, new titles added to our collection, and my library curriculum. I am looking forward to another year of sharing outstanding literature with you and your students as well as helping our students navigate the world of information that is available at their fingertips. One of the most important goals of the school library is to help students develop a love of reading. Reading lays the foundation for academic success, inspires imagination and encourages lifelong learning.

What is information literacy? It is the ability to identify what information is needed, understand how it is organized, identify the best sources of information, and then locating, evaluating, and sharing that information.
Why is it Important? Information literacy skills are critically important due to the overwhelming amount of information available in all kinds of formats.
A recent New York Times article highlighted the challenges of integrating information literacy skills into the K-16 educational environment.
