SECOND GRADE FIELD TRIP TO THE PLANT SCIENCE CLASS
Today my 2nd grade students visited the high school Plant Science class. Mrs. Colangelo and Rylee Sinden, along with the other students in Plant Science, provided an amazing experience for my students to kick off their understanding of plants.
After Thanksgiving, our classroom will begin our worm farm and learn about composting. After Christmas, we will start our own indoor vegetable garden, so this visit was both timely and informative- definitely a perfect fit to pique our interest!
I was very impressed with all the high school Plant Science students have accomplished so far! We learned about leaves, got to see roots, and a large variety of plants. We then went out into the courtyard. The students have transformed this space very intentionally and the aesthetic is so cool, calm, and purposeful. We loved the butterfly garden, the various sitting areas, the pond, the brick work and the strawberry area. Our final stop was to the cafeteria where we learned about the hydroponics garden. This was so cool! My students even got to help balance the ph and nutrients.
We are so grateful for all the hard work the Plant Science students have put into their class. It was wonderful to see so many of my former students "blossoming" in Mrs. Colangelo's class. Thank you for hosting us! - Mrs. Arbuckle
THIRD GRADE TRADE FAIR
The 3rd grade classes participated in a Trade Fair in Social Studies class! They have been learning about the Fur Trade between the Native Americans and the French during their Michigan History unit. Students brought in handmade items and learned how to barter and trade with their classmates. The students loved showing off their handmade goods and going home with some pretty amazing items!

ATTENDANCE MATTERS REMINDER
District Announcement:
Good Evening Parents! This is Jill Snyder-High School, the High School Principal. I am sharing with all of you the changes that will be taking place starting next week on how absences will be communicated to parents for all students within Concord Community Schools.
Starting Monday, as a district, we will utilize an automated system to communicate with parents about student absences. This means that a phone call will be made to the number on file within the school to notify parents of their child’s absence. When your child is absent from school, a phone call will be made to let you know of your child’s absence. The phone call will tell you which class periods your child has missed for the day.
An absence is considered more than 20 minutes late to the beginning of the school day. Please make sure that if your child is absent, you are contacting your child’s school to confirm their absence and/or notify them of the absence.
Ensuring your child attends school regularly is of utmost importance. It is crucial for their academic progress and overall development. Regular attendance allows students to actively participate in classroom activities, engage with their peers, and build strong relationships with their teachers. It also helps them develop a sense of responsibility, discipline, and time management skills. By prioritizing attendance, you set a solid foundation for your child’s academic and personal success.
