PE and Wellness
Students started with strength and agility exercises on the big orange circle. I reviewed behavior norms and what "moderate to vigorous" physical activity means. Then, they played three cooperative games: Frozen Bean Bag, Over/Under, and Carpet Square Challenge.
Yoga is offered each Monday and Friday morning. AIM is in full swing. Tuesday has some obstacles on the path. Wednesday is Storytime Stroll with Mrs. Rue. Thursday is just Thursday. This year, silicone wristbands will acknowledge each 10 mile achievement. Cheldelin Middle School is hosting a free 1 mile challenge for students 3-5 on October 17. Get a registration form at this link or from Mr. Behrens.
We are still looking for room parents for the 2019-2020 school year and we're hoping to have room parents in place before Curriculum Night.
If you want to help out your child's teacher and have the chance to get to know other parents and children in your child's class, this is the job for you!
Time commitment is variable. The main responsibilities are:
- Helping teachers with prep work as needed (time commitment is teacher dependent and mutually decided upon by you and the teacher).
- Creating a sign up for Fresh Fruit Friday to recruit parents to bring in fresh fruit for the kids snack each Friday. (1-2 hours total)
- Communicating with classroom parents about upcoming events and APT volunteer needs (1-2 hours per month).
- Decorating two doors for teacher appreciation week in April (5-8 hours total). You can recruit other classroom parents to help you with this as well.
Being a room parent is a great way to be involved in your child's classroom, to build a relationship with your child's teacher, and to be involved with the APT.
If you would like to sign up as a Room Parent for your child's class, please use this link, https://signup.com/go/EZLfprw.

Have you filled out the online free Adams T-shirt form for your student(s) yet? This year, thanks to the Adams Parents Association (APA), every student enrolled at Adams will receive a royal blue T-shirt with the Adams Alligator logo free of cost. These Adams shirts should be worn for our weekly Adams Pride Days (Fridays), field trips, and any day they wish to show their Adams school spirit! Students can choose to receive either a short sleeve cotton or athletic style dry-fit T-shirt. For those who already have a royal blue Adams shirt that fits and do not want another, there is a “no thank you” option as well. Paper order forms will also be available outside the Adams office and at the Curriculum Nights. We also have in stock several smaller cotton T-shirts and a limited number of medium to large sized cotton shirts that will be available (1 free per enrolled student) at these events. Skip the order wait time and get yours early! First come, first serve, until they’re gone.
In addition, we are taking orders for the following purchasable Adams Wear items, all in royal blue with the Adams Alligator logo. Adams Wear makes great gifts for family members, friends, and Adams volunteers! Pick up an order form at the Adams Wear table during the Curriculum Nights or outside the Adams office. All orders must be accompanied with payment and returned to the office or your child’s teacher by Friday, Oct. 4th. Credit card payment will be also available at the Adams Wear table during both Curriculum Nights. Orders will be delivered to students in November, unless requested to be picked up in the office.

If you are interested in taking advantage of this at home, here are the instructions for the accessing your Reflex Parent Reporting Account:
Parents can easily monitor their child’s math fluency progress on Reflex with a Reflex Parent Reporting Account.
To set up an account, you will need your child’s Reflex sign in information (their teacher’s Reflex Username, the name of the Reflex Class, and your child’s Reflex Password). Your child should have this information if they’re logging on to Reflex regularly. Not all classes have begun using Reflex Math this year, so they may not have yet received this information.
- Go to reflexmath.com/parent
- Follow The onscreen instructions to create your free account
- Go to www.reflexmath.com/reports
- Once you are logged, follow the instructions to add your child.
Once registered, launch the parent account at www.reflexmath.com/reports to log into your new account. Enter your Username (your email address) and Password and click Submit.

Last night's Block Party had a great showing of our Adams Community! It was nice to see so many friendly faces and so much energy filling the school grounds. A big thank you to all of our volunteers and community partners that helped make the evening a fun and enjoyable event. We are grateful to everyone that helped and everyone who attended, from our new families to the veterans entering their last year here at Adams.
Looking forward to a great year ahead and many more memories to come! Keep an eye on the Alligator Bite for future events and we invite all Adams parents to come join us at Adams Parent Association meetings.
Public Charge Facts for Families
Federal Public Charge Rule Facts
The Corvallis School District works to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students and we believe that students are better prepared for learning the skills needed to be successful for their future when we remove barriers.
This message is to notify all families of a new federal rule that changes how people are found to be a "Public Charge". It allows the federal immigration agency to look at a longer list of public benefits, and more factors such as family income, when deciding whether a person is likely to become a Public Charge in the future. This new rule will go into effect on October 15, 2019. Benefits that many of our families utilize and WILL NOT be counted in a public charge test include the following:
School-based Health Services
Food from the Food Bank
WIC (nutrition assistance for women, infants, and children to age 5)
Oregon's Cover All Kids Program
Please contact your school's Principal, Family Liaison, Health Navigator if you have questions.
