Definition - body is divided into 2 halves

Phylum examples - cordata, mollusk, arthropoda, annelida, nematoda

*most advanced body plan

*has highly specialize organs

Radial

Definition - circular pattern

Phylum examples - cnidaria, echinodermata

*provides protection and resources all around the body

*body radiates from the center point

Asymmetry

Definition - without symmetry of body organs

Phylum examples - porifera

*it is a very simple body plan

*grows according to the environment

Anterior

near the front of an animal

Posterior

in the back of an animal

Dorsal

upper side of an animal

Ventral

abdomen or belly of an animal

Lateral

side to side on an animal
