Carver Middle School Newsletter
August 2, 2019
Greetings Carver Community,
It's hard to believe that our students return to school in just a few weeks. We look forward to seeing many of you this week at National Night Out activities. This will be the first opportunity for the newest members of our administrative team to meet our parents and students. Our new Associate Principal, Mr. Nicholas Olson will greet our families at Broadwater Town Homes. Our new Dean of Students, Ms. Melissa Wyche is excited about spending time with our Longmeadow families. Mr. Wiedenhoft, our returning Assistant Principal will spend time with our families in Stoney Glen. Please stop and chat with the Carver Administrative team if you plan to attend these events. I look forward to visiting all three of the communities and appreciate being invited to your communities.
Please continue to encourage your students to read this summer and we look forward to seeing you on August 28 for fee day. Have a great VA Tax free Weekend and please continue to encourage your child to continue to read this summer.

Message from Nurse Natalie
Hello Carver Cougars-
I am super excited to be returning to the Carver Family as your school nurse for the 2019-2020 school year! Some of you with older children may remember me as I was the nurse at Carver from the 2012-2016. For the last 3 years I have been serving Falling Creek middle school.
As a friendly reminder, please if your student has a health condition such as a life threatening allergy, asthma, seizures, diabetes or any other condition that may require care during the school day you must provide the clinic with an up to date health service plan for your student. Each school year a new plan is needed. Copies of health plans can be found on the CCPS website via the family> health and safety > forms link
Also, don’t forget to check with your doctor about immunizations such as the TDAP that are now required by the VA state law for all 7th graders. This is a change from previous years.
I look forward to getting to know many of you and your children this school year! As your school nurse, it is my privilege to support and advocate for our students, staff and families! I want every student to have the opportunity to be safe, healthy and ready to learn!
Please let me know how I can help you or your student!
