CAREER EXPLORATION OPPORTUNITIES: Military Service Academy & MO Police Department Youth Night
Military Service Academy Event
Has your son or daughter ever expressed interest in serving our country?
What about possibly making a career in our military?
Have they thought about attending one of our prestigious U.S. Service Academies and getting their education paid for?
If any of these questions apply to you, I'm hosting an event that you might find helpful. Students, family, and friends are all welcome to attend my Military Service Academy Information Day.
The application and selection process to attend a U.S. Service Academy is very competitive and requires students to be meticulous. This event presents the perfect opportunity for you and your children to gain the knowledge and expertise needed to submit a quality application for consideration to receive a nomination from me and ultimately an appointment to one of our U.S. Service Academies.
This free, public event will take place on Saturday, April 4th from 1:30pm to 3:30pm at the Smith-Cotton High School Library (2010 Tiger Pride Blvd., Sedalia, MO 65301). As a part of the information day, middle and high school students and their families will have the opportunity to visit with me and representatives of the following service academies:
- U.S. Military Academy at West Point
- U.S. Naval Academy
- U.S. Air Force Academy
- U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
- U.S. Coast Guard Academy
- University ROTC programs
- Representatives from U.S. Senators Roy Blunt's and Josh Hawley's offices
While RSVPs are not required, they are appreciated. Feel free to let us know if you'll be attending by following this link. For additional information on this event, please contact my Harrisonville office at (816) 884-3411. I am looking forward to meeting with interested students and their families during this exciting event.

6th & 7th Grade Students: Counselors will be visiting with students in mid-April to discuss exploratory classes they can select for the following school year. We will send out an email to let parents know when this occurs so you know when to expect paperwork to come home. We will also have students pick out their locker for next year!
8th Grade Students: Freshman enrollment was Monday, March 2nd at the High School. You should have already received paperwork about enrolling your student for Freshman Year. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dan Conner. He is our 8th and 9th Grade counselor.
