Amerigo Vespucci Was born March 9, 1454, in Florence, Italy. He had a mother who is Lisabetta Mini, a dad who is Nastagio Vespucci, and a brother named Antonio. He was born into a family who were wealthy silk traders who were friends with the Medicis. As a young man he was interested in books and maps. He also had a great education and served for a time as a diplomat. In 1492 he moved to spain. Their he saw Columbus' first voyage and decided that he wanted to be an explorer.

Achievements / Discoveries
Amerigo Vespucci had many discoveries and achievements, here are some of them. In 1499, he went to the coast of America thinking it was Asia. In 1499, he went on his second voyage and discovered the St. Augustine and the Amazon River. In 1503, he discovered Bahia and the island of South Georgia. In 1508, he was made the chief pilot.
He also discovered the Americas were not Asia.
Impact on World Today
Without Amerigo Vespucci we probably wouldn't be living in America. He was the person who discovered that the Americas were not Asia.
