Summer’s not over; it’s just becoming more musical!!

Summer band is just around the corner, and we want to make sure everyone is ready to go! This is going to be an absolutely incredible year! Let’s make sure we have a few items at the top of our calendars and the front of our lists!!

This week we have the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps staying at Johnson High School Friday 22 and Saturday 23. We will send out a Remind message with their rehearsal schedule once we know, so parents and students can come watch and enjoy!

For students who expressed interest in attending the DCI San Antonio Show, we were able to obtain a limited number of tickets. We will send a Google form out this week for students to claim a ticket. Tickets will be issued on a first-come-first-served basis. If you want to attend the DCI Show, you must complete this week's Google form. We will also provide transportation for those students attending the show. After all interested students have been given a ticket, we may have a limited number of tickets for parents. Parents will need to provide their own transportation to San Antonio. The clear bag policy and parking cost information can be found on the DCI website. If we are able to provide transportation for parents we will send that information out in a Remind message, as well! If you are planning to attend, you will want to bring money for food and also souvenirs so you can support your favorite Drum and Bugle Corps!

Color Guard starts summer camp on July 21 & 22; July 25 & 26, SLT and percussion only; and on July 27, 28, and 29 EVERYONE kicks off summer band! We will be issuing uniforms and taking band pictures on Saturday, July 30th. Check the calendar!!! Make sure you are hydrating now for the upcoming time outside and that you have everything you need for summer band!

One of the most important things coming up soon is our BOA FUNDRAISER!!!! Our goal is to fundraise enough funds to cover the entire cost of the BOA Grand Nationals Marching Contest!! This fundraiser is what is going to get us there!! We must have everyone involved and working hard to raise these funds! We will open the GroupFund the week of July 25, and it is all hands on deck with this one! Start planning now. We have to get this fundraiser to reach an incredibly large base of supporters to generate the funds to get us there! WE CAN DO IT!

I hope everyone is as excited as we are for this year!! Between the new leadership team, the awesome number of students taking summer lessons at the Band Hall, the look of the show, the musical arrangements, the drill and the excitement from our parents, prop crew, uniform crew and everyone involved, we are setup for greatness! Now, let’s enjoy this last week of summer and be ready to take the field July 27!!

It truly is A Great Day To Be A Jaguar!!

Interested in Carpooling?

The Carpool Interest Form is available through Tuesday July 19. The JHS Boosters organization does not endorse or organize carpools; we only help interested parties find each other. If you are interested in communicating with others about carpooling or you are willing to carpool members to practice, please fill out the Carpool Interest Form. Each day the boosters will take all of the collected information from those expressing interest in carpooling, and then distribute the list to those who have signed up so they can contact each other and form carpools that meet their timing and location needs. This is a "self organizing" activity. Each person is responsible for working out their arrangements with others. Again, please know that the JHS Booster Organization is unable to coordinate carpools.

Help with Picture Day - Students & Parents

PARENTS - We need your help with fitting the band students into their uniforms for the season and also for pictures. We will have different stations set up to get them fitted, photographed, pants pinned and then scanned in.

STUDENTS - We need student volunteers to help as runners to help assist the students from one station to the next and to help our parent volunteers as needed.

Questions can be directed to Carmen Sifuentes (vp@johnsonbands.com).

Everyone who signs up for the whole day will be provided lunch by the Band Boosters.

Sign up for Picture Day Time Slot!

Picture Day is Saturday, July 30th for the 2022-2023 Jaguar Band!

Sign up for your picture time slot HERE !!

WOODWINDS, BRASS AND PERCUSSION - Wear black sleeveless compression shirt and compression shorts. BRING YOUR INSTRUMENT IF YOU WANT IT IN YOUR PHOTO.

Staying Informed! The Jaguar Band strives to keep everyone informed about our events and increase the opportunity to answer questions and create conversations with our community. This year, you will be able to find out information not only in our Newsletter and on our Band Calendar, but we will also be sharing them on our Johnson Band website events page and as events on our Facebook page. Game Day and Competition Meal plans

Please note that the COMPETITION Meal Plan is REQUIRED. The Boosters are offering a meal plan program to all marching band students for summer band days, game days, and competition days. All meals are fast food and will include an entrée, chips, fruit, cookie and a water. Payment deadlines for meal plans are listed below.

The Competition Meal Plan is mandatory because it’s not possible for parents to know when the students can eat. Schedules are driven by the competition hosts. Click here for more information about the Competition Meal Plan.

The Game Day Meal Plan is optional.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact Julie Hoes or Blanca Velez at mealplans@johnsonbands.com or Ida Musgrove @ president@johnsonbands.com.
