Crenshaw Ribbon Cutting
Crenshaw hosted a ribbon cutting to unveil their new murals in collaboration with Artist Boat! These incredible murals were hand drawn by artist Karissa Laffey and completed by the students.
By involving students in the design and painting of these murals, they have created a visual that will continue to peak their interest and curiosity in all things environmental science: ecology, oceanology, biology, zoology, geology, mineral science and solar energy.

Austin Trip to NASA
Last week, 29 students from Austin Middle School in grades 5th-8th participated in a hands-on classroom experience where they learned about the physics of rocket flight through the Rocketry Physics Experience at NASA. Students created test rockets from household materials and tested them to see which launch angle would produce the furthest flight results. Students were split into two groups. When one group was in the classroom, the other group explored and interacted with the main floor exhibits. Of particular interest was the Independence – this was a great true-to-life tie-in for our classroom experience.
