Classroom News!
* Hooray for apples! This week we had an apple taste test and made a graph that showed how many people liked each kind of apple.
* We are hard at work completing pages in our Handwriting Without Tears workbooks. They seem to be working 'cause we've not seen a tear yet!
* We read a beautiful book called, "Look What I Did With a Leaf" and then used our imaginations to create a picture using leaves we collected on the playground. These pictures are beautiful. What a creative bunch we've got this year!
* We learned that you don't have to know how to write words in order to write a book. This week we were all about wordless stories in Kindergarten. We read lots of books from the library with nary a word before setting about creating our own stories with drawings. Every child has many stories to tell and wordless stories are a wonderful way of introducing the concept of authorship to our students ... and this is only the beginning!
Conversation Starters
* There are lots of way a story. Is it possible to tell a story using only your voice? Can you think of an example? Is it possible to tell a story using only pictures? Can you think of an example?
* We know that sometimes people need T.L.C. What is that? When might someone need T.L.C.? Have you ever given someone T.L.C.?
Important Message
*Parents! On Friday, November 9th, Kindergarten will be performing songs in Spanish!
* Fall weather is on its way ( we think). Please be sure that your child has appropriate clothes for the weather because we will be going outside to play every day. Also, we would be ever so grateful if you would teach your children how to zip up their coats. We need all the "zipper-uppers" we can get! Of course, we are always available to zip up anyone who needs the help.
Poem of the week: "Apples"
Red apples,
Yellow apples,
Green apples, too.
Big apples,
Little apples,
Shiny apples, too.
Crunchy apples,
Soft apples,
Rotten apples, ooh!
