Reflections from the week of 1-25-16

The end of winter brings many changes and it is comforting to know spring is near. With that in mind, evaluation season is in full swing and Tiger admin is working steadily to complete all evaluations within the next 6-8 weeks. We anticipate observing lessons that are relevant, rigorous, engaging and significantly impact learning!

I conversed with several former students this past week about where they are educationally and personally with the goals they have set for themselves. One in particular, has come to the realization that she cannot stay where she is for the rest of her life--she wants more for herself. Currently, she is working to complete a ½ of credit before she graduates high school. Another fifth year senior, who is also working on her diploma, too told me, “You never gave up on me and you would not let me quit.” I started thinking about the power of the words we speak. We can speak life into a person or we can tear down someone’s spirit by the negative words that we speak. Let’s be mindful when we are working with our students, our colleagues, our parents, and in the community. Our words have power to change lives so use them to ignite, inspire and influence those around us.

You matter at AMCHS and your words do, too!
