Kittredge Magnet Ranks #1 Again!
We are excited to announce that, once again, our Milestones performance leaves no doubt that KMS is the #1 elementary school in the state of Georgia. The GADOE released state-wide scores for all schools last week. For the first time ever, KMS outperformed all other schools on all indicators, including percentage of students reading above grade level (100%), mean scale scores, percentage of students scoring at Level IV Distinguished and percentage of students scoring at Level III & IV combined. This outstanding performance is due to the dedication of our teachers, the hard work of our students, and the support of our parents. Kudos to all on a job well done!
Supporting Kittredge Magnet School
Greetings Kittredge Families,
We are looking forward to a fantastic 2023-24 school year at Kittredge Magnet School! It is certainly a wonderful time to be a member of the KMS community. We extend our congratulations to the students, staff and leadership of Kittredge for their outstanding performance and continued success with the Georgia Milestones. This success is due in part to the overwhelming financial support of our parents and partners.
The Cougar Fund of the KMS Foundation presents an opportunity for you and your family to support the education of our students with an annual financial donation. Your generosity will help support a top-notch educational and enriching experience for your students, provide the teachers with high quality professional learning resources and conferences, and bridge the gap between our resource plans and the funds provided by DeKalb County.
This fund is THE ONLY fundraiser for our school, eliminating the need to sell wrapping paper or sponsor running laps to raise money.
We ask that all families contribute to The Cougar Fund before the start of the school year to ensure that we have the resources in our 2023-24 budget. Our goal is for 100% family participation and $100,000 in total donations.
As you consider your ability to give, please review the donation levels and benefits here. The suggested donation per student is $400, and we welcome any donation amount. Please give the best you can. 100% of your donation goes directly to the school and is tax-deductible.
The students and staff of Kittredge Magnet School for High Achievers are so grateful for your support.
With Cougar Pride,
Sarah Borenstein & Brooke Gifford, Co-presidents
The Kittredge Magnet School Foundation

3 Steps to Online Registration
It's that time again to check off the steps for registration at KMS. There are three items that must be checked off in order before you attend Meet the Teacher Day on Friday, August 4th. Completing these three steps is your ticket to a successful Meet the Teacher Day on August 4th.
The short list is below. Keep scrolling for more details and instructions.
Step 1: Infinite Campus Annual Verification - do this now please.
Step 2: Foundation Registration - do this 2nd, open now!
Step 3: Student Information Form - do this 3rd, open now!
>>> Details & Instructions for Registration Steps <<<
Step 1: Infinite Campus Annual Verification
Step 1 is open now and should be done immediately.
Thank you to the 88% of families who completed it already! Let's get to 100%!
This online-only process is required for all students and can be handled all from your computer, phone, or through the Campus Parent App. It can take up to 15 minutes to complete. You will update household phone numbers, emergency contacts and your media release permission (permission needed if you would like your child to be included in photos from our fantastic Kittredge field trips and music concerts!). If you do not have a Campus Parent account, please email our registrar, Judi Carlson, at judith_m_carlson@dekalbschoolsga.org. Check out step-by-step instructions for additional information. You will need to be sure your application status says COMPLETE (like the image below). You can confirm this in Infinite Campus > 3 bar menu > More > Annual Verification.
Step 2: Foundation Registration, School Supplies & The Cougar Fund
Open now! Record your order number.
At the KMS Foundation website, returning families will log in (use the password help link if needed). New families will click the CREATE ACCOUNT button.
Once logged in, click the Registration/Forms menu item to register with the KMS Foundation, choose your donation level to The Cougar Fund, and purchase a short list of required school supplies. This process will take just 5 to 10 minutes. You will need your order number for step 3 below. It can be found in the subject line of your receipt email. See screenshot below for an example.
Step 3: The KMS Student Information Form - do this last!
Open now!
This form collects demographic information that is shared with our teachers for their class contact lists. It will take less than 5 minutes to complete. Be sure you have completed and submitted the form. You'll see the confirmation message like the image below.
Be sure to complete all 3 steps IN ORDER by August 4th!
You'll get a "Faster Pass" ticket via email after step 3 is complete.
KMS Meet the Teacher Day - Friday, August 4th, 8:00am to 11:00am
Meet the Teacher Day is a drop-in event that takes about 30 minutes to complete. You should complete the "3 Steps to Online Registration" above to earn your "Faster Pass" ticket to Meet the Teacher Day. You will meet your child's homeroom teacher, walk the building and complete a variety of tasks while at KMS and everyone should attend. You can even drop off your school supplies! Detailed information for Meet the Teacher Day will be sent no later than August 1st.
We still need volunteers for this event! Click here to join the fun! Short shifts are available!
What is a "Faster Pass?"
The Faster Pass is the confirmation that you have completed all three steps to registration. You will receive it on email after completing the steps. You can print it or display it from your phone to the greeters at Meet the Teacher Day. This process eliminates the need for us to look up your name on three different printed lists and will make your visit faster and more enjoyable. Anyone without a Faster Pass will be directed to the technology center in our Art Room for completion of the steps before being permitted to visit the classrooms.
First Day of School - August 7th
The countdown is on! Don’t forget that summer homework and supply list shopping. Now is a good time to start going to bed and getting up earlier. Check that shoes and school clothes fit. Find those lunchboxes and get your lunch application or meal plan ready! Make your transportation plans or find a carpool. We will send a complete, first day preparedness checklist next week. We can't wait to welcome everyone back to the building!
See you soon!
