Conferences and Book Fair This Week
This week is conference week, and we are excited to see you! Please use the Sign-up Genius to remember your time. If you have not signed up, you still can - we want to talk to every single Lakeview family. Here is the link to the Sign-up Genius.
The PTO is hosting a book fair during conferences in the Lakeview library. Remember to stop and purchase new books for home - and consider purchasing and donating a book to your child's classroom.
Can you help at the Book Fair?
Click here for a Sign-up Genius. It is a great way to support Lakeview.

Absence Reporting
If your child has any symptoms (including non-Covid symptoms), the only way to report the student's absence is by using this link. You will need to complete this by 8:30 a.m. anytime your student will be absent because of illness. If multiple students from your household will be absent due to illness, you will need to complete it once for each student. This link is available on the Lakeview website as well as in this family newsletters. This will help us be more responsive to you, our families, with our Covid protocols.
The link for absence reporting will stay on the Lakeview homepage as well as in the family newsletter each week.
If your student is not missing school due to symptoms (for example, a dentist appointment or a family vacation), please continue to call the Lakeview office directly.
4K Registration for 22-23 is now open
To be in 4K next year, the child must be 4 years old on or before September 1st. All day 4K is available at all four elementary schools and half day 4K is available at Blakewood. Although it is not "first come, first served" our 4K programs will fill up quickly, especially the all-day 4K programs. So it is best to get your registration in right now instead of waiting.
Here is a link to the information about 4K registration, along with the links to register. All incoming 4K students are registered as "new students" (rather than "adding a student to your family).
Contact Lakeview if you have any questions about 4K registration for 2022-2023.
This Week's Golden Lions!
There were 19 Golden Lions awarded to students since our last newsletter. Here are the descriptions for each of those Golden Lions. Our students demonstrate GREAT character at Lakeview!
• Alexa was so engaged during ST Math today. I see evidence of her engagement in her daily assignments. Keep up the great work, Alexa!
• Caitlin knows all the words and actions to the third grade song with the most words! I'm grateful for her leadership in class!
• Caleb shows he is engaged by recognizing all the snap words on the green cards! Super!
• Eliana shows she is engaged by recognizing all the snap words on the green cards! Super!
• Dajjen has been challenging himself to read longer books with more words. Also, he works hard to figure out new, tricky words. Then he brings home the books to read to his family! Keep up the great work, Dajjen!
• Deondre has made good progress in both reading and spelling! He self-corrects when a word doesn't look right or make sense. Also, he is more confident in himself as a learner and has more perseverance when things are challenging. Keep up the awesome work, Deondre!
• Cooper didn't need to be asked...he saw someone in need and just helped out!
• Vivvy shows she is engaged by recognizing all the snap words on the green cards! Super!
• Gavin shows he is engaged by recognizing all the snap words on the green cards! Super!
• Natalia was very respectful when she cleaned up in the Library without being asked to. She went above and beyond. Keep it up!
• Zulimar was very respectful when she cleaned up in the Library without being asked to. She went above and beyond. Keep it up!
• During word work, Liam offered to let his partner go first when they were sorting their words. It was such a simple gesture that shows Liam's character. Thank you, Liam, for demonstrating being respectful and thinking about the feelings of others.
• Braxton shows he is engaged by recognizing all the snap words on the purple cards! Super!
• Didier has been doing a great job of making a plan each day for his reading and staying focused during his work. Way to go, Didier!
• Anthony did an amazing job listening to directions and finishing his work all week.
• Leah has been learning how to write stories using WOW pictures, snap words and sounding out unknown words. Super work!
• Ellasyn you continue to demonstrate the Lakeview Way everyday. You are always engaged! Ms. Ashely asked the class if they would rather be invisible or fly? Ellasyn said, "I am studying Latin roots in Lexia and "vis" means to look at something.
Wow - Ellasyn! You are always making connections in your learning.
• Kaylee has been working very hard to listen carefully and not play during her work time!
• As Ava walked by my classroom, she saw me picking up books off of the floor. She kindly stepped into the classroom and asked if she could help me pick up the books. Her kindness meant so much to me as I was trying to clean up. Thank you, Ava, for being so thoughtful and taking a few minutes out of your day to help!
