MARDI GRAS
Dr Foerst’s and Mrs. Bejarano’s French students created over 60 mini carnival floats using shoe boxes and art supplies to celebrate Mardi Gras on Tuesday, February 13th.
The “floats” were displayed in the courtyard during A & B lunch for other students to see and vote on their favorite. There were lots of fun games and activities such as a photo booth with some very colorful Mardi Gras props. This was CHS’s first annual Mardi Gras celebration, and we hope to continue this fun tradition each year!

CHINESE NEW YEAR FESTIVAL
February 16, 2018 was the Chinese New Year, and all CHS Chinese classes went to downtown Phoenix to celebrate. The Chinese New Year Festival contained many exciting features that represent Chinese culture. One of the features was the lion dance, a traditional Chinese dance that has two to several people participate in colorful lion costumes and dance to the beat of the drum. In addition, there were many souvenirs from China such as wooden fans, rice hats, jade jewelry, and cute sculptures with twelve zodiac animals. Other events included the Chinese name writing in calligraphy. Students also enjoyed a variety of Chinese food. Overall, this exciting Chinese New Year Festival was a long-awaited event for all Chinese students to explore Chinese culture and food.

JOIN THE 2018-2019 LINK CREW
Link Crew is a freshman transition program that helps incoming 9th graders make the adjustment to the high school environment. Link Leaders, 11th and 12th graders, help make this transition as smooth as possible. Link Crew organizes Freshman Orientation, a freshman-only day before the first day of school that provides the opportunity to meet other 9th grade students. It empowers students to make wise choices and helps prepare freshmen for a successful first day of school. Orientation includes a tour of the campus so new students have an idea where their classes are located. Link Crew also organizes academic and social events such as the Final Exam Cram session in December, A-lunch games and activities, and a back-to-school Freshman Pool Party.
All current sophomores and juniors can apply online using the google form.
Interested students must submit the application and attend an interview by March 2nd.
PROM DRESS COLLECTION DRIVE
The “Cinderella Affair” is an all-volunteer project supported by East Valley Women's League. Drop off your donations of new and gently-used dresses, evening bags, wraps and jewelry to the “Cinderella Affair” box in the CHS front office. Thanks for your support!
