Lowell Memo: Issue #7
September 30, 2016
Published by Lowell School & the Lowell PTA
We ran (and skipped) Laps for Lowell on Thursday!
As Mrs. Minser likes to say, “we’re from Chicago and we’re tough”. Our Lowell kids (and parents) sure were tough! Despite the rainy, windy conditions, the kids ran hard, cheered loud and had a LOT of fun!
Thank you to Mrs. Minser and Mr. LaLonde for all of their help and guidance with this event! Thank you to Mrs. Razzino and Mrs. Moore for chairing Laps for Lowell!
And thank you to the following parent volunteers who helped make Laps for Lowell a big success:
Megan Burke, Carey Coppoletta, Amy DeBock, Mike Fitzpatrick, Andrea Koziarz, Cristy Marchis, Cheryl Noonan, Julie Rusin, Ed Schell, Kristen Seiler, Melissa Vandenend, Carrie VonDrasek, and Jackie Wellman
We really appreciate your time, energy, and umbrellas…we could not have done it without you!
All Laps for Lowell donations are due in the office or online by next Friday, October 7th. Just a reminder that 100% of your donation goes directly to the Lowell PTA! If we meet our goal, this will be our one and only fundraiser all year, which means no selling anything! We thank you in advance for your generous support!
Thank you for your support of the Lowell PTA!
Walk to School Day is Wednesday, October 5th! We'll gather at the field/sun porch door to start the day!
Box Tops for Education – Get Involved!
This year we’ll once again be collecting Box Tops for Education™ to earn cash for Lowell. All you need to do is cut them off of the boxes of participating products, stick them in a baggie, and send them to school with your child (bags of 50 Box Tops are preferred). Mark the bags with your child's name and teacher's name, as the class that sends in the most Box Tops will win a special prize toward the end of the school year!
For anyone interested in helping out or wanting to meet some new Lowell faces, we’re meeting thisSunday, Oct. 2 from 3:30-5:00 pm. If interested, email Becky Graziano at beckygraziano@mac.com for more details. Thanks!

Vision and Hearing Screenings
The DuPage County Health Department will conduct screenings on Friday, October 14.
Hearing screenings will be done in grades kindergarten through third.
Kindergarten and second grades are screened for vision. A vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor.
Contact Chris Gilbertsen, School Nurse, with any questions or concerns.
PTA Reflections Arts Program
The Lowell PTA will once again be sponsoring the 2016-2017 National PTA's Reflections program, a cornerstone arts program that encourages students to explore their arts and talents to express themselves. This year's theme is "What is your Story?" Submissions can be in the form of the following: Photography, Visual Arts, Literature, Dance Choreography, Film Production, or Music Composition. Submissions are due to Lowell on October 21st. Look for a flyer to come home with your child in the coming weeks.
We are also seeking volunteers to assist with administrating the program.
If you are interested in helping or have any questions, please contact the Reflections chair, Jeannie Iseman, at jeannie.iseman@gmail.com, or 630.440.1115.
