Hiring a Web Designer

Steps to make the process smooth.

Preparation

  1. Start thinking of some names for your domain name. You might want to consider having two-a brand name and a keyword domain.
  2. Create a logo-a real one,one that speaks to your business and is unique to you.
  3. Figure out what your website should do for you. Do you want to use it to educate? Do you want e commerce? Who is the site directed towards ? What is the feeling you want to get from it? What is your budget?
  4. Gather your resources-addresses, details, images, etc . Make sure you provide everything up front.
  5. Do some research on your designer-ask to see a portfolio, ask for the costs and time lines, how will it be hosted, how often changes can be made. Do you think you can work with this person?

The jury is still out on the exact way that social media affects business, but most agree that it can be used to inspire brand loyalty. If you have experience with using social media personally, but have not delved to much into how to use it for business, I recommend checking out this article about social media etiquette. It is better not to do it at all than do it poorly.
